Sarr plays on the right, which is where Olise mainly played last season Kamada tended to play on the left at Nazio
Can't help but feel that Solanke smells of Richarlison MK2. Not in the sense they're similar players, but signings in that the outlay is going to be larger than the corresponding player's ability. I'd imagine Bournemouth aren't going to entertain offers for their key striker at anything less than £50m, especially knowing there's HG tax. That amount for a soon to be 27 year old with just one good season in the top flight represents a huge risk. We really need to get the striker decision right this time around after how badly we got burnt with pigeon boy.
Solanke definitely feels like a data-driven choice, given the chart I posted a few weeks back about the hardest pressing forwards in Europe last season, where Sonny and Richy were the top two while Solanke was 13th on the list - though if you crunch the data so it only contains CFs and those CFs scored at least ten goals last season, Solanke is one of the top five ...that being said, unless a PSR raid is afoot, the obvious point is that Jonathan David is one of the hardest pressing forwards in Europe (fifth overall, in fact), scored just as many league goals last season (19), is younger yet is likely to be cheaper due to being in the last year of his contract while Solanke is contracted until 2027
29 PL in 132 games. If Spurs sign him for anything near the silly money I’ve seen quoted then the club should give up . He’s literally only had one good season in his whole career.
I'm personally not in favour of signing Solanke but a lot of fans I know would be delighted if we signed Gyokeres and he's also only had one outstanding season in his whole career. The fact it was for Sporting Lisbon as opposed to Bournemouth just makes him seem more glamorous.
I don’t particularly rate him either. He scored a lot of goals in the Portuguese league which isn’t even similar to the PL. There’s a severe lack of decent strikers around atm but surely there has to be better options than paying £60million for Solanke or Gyokeres
I guess part of the ST conundrum is the club's true opinion of Veliz and Lankshear, the latter especially. If we see one of them growing into a top striker in the next few years, there isn't much point going out and spending £60m on a player who in all likelihood isn't going to have that much of an impact, and will only get in the way of the youngsters' development.
You need 3 strikers. 2 experienced strikers and an up and coming youngster who can get sub minutes and spend time training and developing with the first team.
One issue with Solanke that does need saying: the Mousers reportedly have a 25% sell-on clause Just sign Jonathan David
Definitely feels like we're letting him down a bit. He clearly wanted business done for pre-season like last year. As things look, we’re basically heading into the new season with the same quality squad.
I think it sounds like there might be only 1-2 more signings rather than 3-4 we and he were hoping for. Ideally would have seen a LB, CM and ST signed. On the plus side I’m glad the club haven’t paid over the odds for the likes of Solanke, Toney, Gibbs-white and Neto as I don’t think any of them are an improvement on what is already there and I’d rather see Moore, Lankshear and Donley given opportunities if possible.
I hope we can sell Emerson, Lo Celso and one or two others and use the fees received and the rest of the budget to sign the best forward we can get
