One more player upfront better be a striker and not another winger I agree with Johnson potentially improving, he’s an Ange signing and the manager is clearly a fan so he may well be the first choice RW next season. Also think we might see Kulu play in the middle more next season. Son is gonna be the main ST isn’t he
I don't think one more signing is enough. There were huge concerns over the midfield's lack of ability to control games last season, and unless Bergvall and Gray are the bee's knees, we haven't done anything to address that issue. The right flank remains unconvincing and we urgently need to upgrade Richarlison. Forget his lack of ability, it's more his injuries I'm worried about at this stage. We saw last season what no proper backup for him looks like and it wasn't pretty. I'd imagine despite rumours at the start of the window, we'll see Radu step up with much more game time at CB and keep Davies and Phillips for backup. Maybe the plan further up the pitch is to just trust the youngsters once and for all? I'd certainly be up for it, but it would be totally out of character for us.
Likely sacrificed to declutter the path for Moore and Donley, especially as he had a year left on his contract Still a shame he got on the bench a few times last season (and once the season before that) yet never got on the pitch for a debut
Santiago looks a nice, technical player from what little I’ve seen. While he might feel a bit hard done by in terms of progression, it’s fair to say that none of the managers have truly fancied him enough, and he’s gone to a Spanish second tier side for a likely nominal fee and no known sell on for Spurs. Hope he has a wonderful career but feels like the right time to part ways. Moore is the priority winger from the academy now it seems and rightly so.
He'd still score more across a season than Richarlison, even if the latter managed to stay fit for most games. The gap in quality alone will do that. But the biggest problem with playing Son there was how it impacted the system. We play such a fluid attacking game, with FBs and wingers routinely interchanging positions and all of the CMs seemingly given free licence to roam, that the presence of a proper central focal point tying it all together is really crucial.
We win more games with Richarlison as a striker. Son scores and creates more on the wing. Even games like Liverpool away, we got battered until Richarlison came on. Should've got something from 4-0 down too, but Karate Kid recreations aren't fouls in Scouseland.
We all want academy players to come out of the pipeline and be at worst competent long-serving squad members. However it has to be said that Spurs have a very good record *** of academy outgoings who have not subsequently gone on with stellar rises to embarrass the club. *** wish the same could be said of senior squad in/outgoings.
We’ve reached the point in the window where Spurs twitter has gone completely insane. We had the classic ‘random link to a big name player who’s not 100% right and is probably just agent talk’ and now Chiesa has been shut down by several big names, the hivemind has lost its marbles.
Likely we let Santiago go to declutter the paths for Moore and Donley, given he too would have been wanting minutes (albeit Santiago was at the Stick or Twist moment, as he had a year on his contract so we either had to offer a new one or move him on) If we move on Solomon and Lo Celso this summer the path is pretty much clear for both of them
What got me from the very beginning is that Chiesa's injury record is there for all to see, and Juve don't seem to be too fussed about letting him go this summer given the low fee, and yet the hivemind are demanding we sign him as if we haven;t had five years of Sessegnon's hamstrings being a constant talking point. It's like they can't tell FIFA EA FC from reality ...and given there's genuinely posters on r/coys who act like we haven't signed anyone this summer when we've made three signings plus have Bergvall available, it's worth asking what planet they live on
Di Marzio claims that Milan's latest offer for Emerson is €14m upfront + €4m in addons ...that being said, Matteo Moretto says €12m is the upfront bid
