.....and almost literally nothing on the bench other than players who wouldn't be guaranteed a start in L2 or should be playing academy football. (Not their fault)

In the scheme of things, in the recent history of Hull City, this bin fire/farce/circus is piddling by comparison.

This regime is imperfect. But through my lens, and I live locally, I see the club reborn - particularly in young kids. Something that if you're not living close to the area, you may not know, That for me is massive factor in what the regime is overall doing right.

If you are 'past caring' or having a 'meltdown' or whatever nouveau idiom suits these days - try and think of the bigger picture.

Wht I don’t understand is the need to bring in a zambarano
Yes he may be some wonderkid and it might turn out brilliantly
But with the greaves and Philo money
Why aren’t we looking at the upcoming left back from league 1? Or the centre half who had a great season and was released by a PL club a few years ago and has now improved
That’s who we should be looking for as well as gems from abroad
And surely we can outmuscle a league 1 club

Seems like the person at the club was correct when they said to me 'everything seems so last minute'.

To be in this position with a week and a half to go before the new season starts is really, really poor.

The board have taken lots of praise over the last few years and deservedly so, but they have to accept the criticism from the fans now due to how badly this window has been handled.

Still a month to go, I know, so plenty of time to turn it around before the window shuts and I know we will get some very good players in but I fear we may be playing catch up as we simply don't have a competitive team for the first month of the season.

This is my issue. By 4 games we may have missed out on 12 points. Which is just under a 1/5th of our total last year. I'm confident too players will come in but leaving it this late has been bad. They need to hire a good head of recruitment or DoF to take some of the load off Tan

Do you reckon by September 1st, we’ll hear “we got all our first choice targets”

I remember someone from the club or it might have been Rosie saying hat far in advance they plan. So they started planning for summer in jan/feb.
There is no eveidence of any plan, it just feels like someone’s half cut bidding on anything thats ending shortly on ebay

With a decent, settled team, the first 3 games are very winnable too. Makes it even more frustrating.

We're nowhere near at the moment, no players and the actual team don't know how to play Walter's system yet as it's so different.

I did say this at the time - any prior planning for the summer would have to go down the pan when we decided to change the manager. The new one was always going to want different players so any work done on signing players for the previous manager was worthless and we would be behind everyone else in our recruitment.

At the time I said I hoped the club had accepted this and factored it into the decision to make the change. I'm not convinced they did.

On the Hughes front anyone know whats happening. Its been 4 days since he was left off the Wigan Squad. He seems that he would fit right into Tims way of playing?

Seems the lure of Acuns one family dream might not cut the mustard, and its turning into a nightmare, dosh changes minds, these players can spout all they like about honour and the badge, but offer them a wedge and their name is signed on the contract no matter who or where the club are. Looking more likely we'll have to spend more to entice them in. That's if we have the headroom to do it.

City are working on a number of deals with a hope three or four will be done and dusted by the time Tim Walter's side kick off their assault on the Championship next Saturday at home to Bristol City, with another flurry before the end of the month.

Boss Walter knows he needs nine players at the very least to give his squad depth and quality, and Ilicali has responded by backing the demands of his new manager. The Tigers have so far added Ryan Giles and Cody Drameh to their squad, but their lack of quality and depth has been apparent throughout pre-season, with staff working around the clock to try and get deals completed.

West Brom striker Brandon Thomas-Asante and Marvin Mehlem were both at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday night to watch the Tigers roar back from 2-0 down to earn a positive 2-2 draw with Italian giants Fiorentina. Thomas-Sante has performed a major U-turn at the eleventh hour and looks set to join Coventry City but a permanent deal for Mehlem is close to being announced. City have got other irons in the fire after missing out on Thomas-Asante. Attacking midfielder Mehlem will join from German side SV Darmstadt for an undisclosed six-figure fee.

Ecuador midfield starlet Oscar Zambrano was left out of L.D.U. Quito's game on Tuesday night as he flew to England to complete the formalities of his move from South America in what's viewed as a significant coup for the Championship club. The youngster, who came through the same academy as Chelsea star Moises Caicedo, has been tracked by a host of clubs and City feel they've got their man, with him expected to pen a long-term deal.

Defender Charlie Hughes remains a top target and City continue to talk with Wigan Athletic in the hope of making a significant breakthrough this week while discussions have been held with former Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna. The Scotsman's wage demands are not insignificant and still make a deal difficult at this stage, but talks with the 27-year-old have been ongoing all summer.

City believe they have a strong chance of snapping up the powerful central defender, though there's no shortage of interest in the left-sided player and it remains to be seen how that one develops in the coming days and weeks.

Another player City want is Liam Millar. Having impressed on loan at Preston North End last term with five goals and five assists in 35 games. Again, talks are ongoing with FC Basel over getting the Canadian international to the MKM Stadium.

A goalkeeper remains a top priority and while the club have one on trial this week, it's not thought he will compete for a place in the first team, with the club considering potential options. Marek Rodak is a player Walter likes, but it appears he will move to Saudi Arabia from Fulham.

Elsewhere, City will use the loan market just as they did this summer, but it's likely any arrivals from the Premier League will largely come later in August once top-flight clubs have finalised their squads following the opening weekend of their respective campaigns, but they do have an interest in Leicester City's Kasey McAteer, Liverpool's James McConnell and Manchester City midfielder Alex Robertson.

It's common at clubs up and down the land and the world. It's crap and really ain't helping us ATM, but let's not pretend it doesn't happen quite a lot across the board.
