I'm not really seeing the problem taking out Hamas leaders. I can understand discussion over any injury to civi's, but other than that free shot as far as I'm concerned.
If they were interested in their people, yes, they would, but the leaders of Hamas have only ever been interested in wealth and power.
What about if Iran took out Netanyahu in Tel Aviv ? He's considered a terrorist from large swathes of the Arab world and has an international arrest warrant out from the international courts of justice
This thread's hilarious at times. I come down on the Palestinian side in this long running conflict and it's clear the IDF's response to October has been beyond heinous but it's also clear that people hold Israel to different standards than everyone else. Good on them for taking out a Hamas leader as far as I'm concerned. Much better than bombing refugee camps and hospitals.
Makes you wonder why the Israelis have the Iron Dome system and won't just slug it out missile for missile with Hamas and Hezbollah... last building standing / leaders left, takes all ...
Wholly agree with your last paragraph - Leaders are legitimate targets - schools, refugee camps, hospitals and places of worship are not - irrespective of who might have hidden there amongst the civilians
If, by at the end of your first paragraph, you mean the US and the UK seemingly turning a blind eye to what Israel has done both in Gaza under recognised articles of war and what they have done historically and are still doing, in terms of illegal occupation and settlements under International Law - again you are spot on - both the US and the UK have stood aside and allowed Israel to operate under different standards than we would have done for any other country anywhere else in the world
Because Israelis care about their own people not dying while the opposition just want dead Jews. As ever not many suggestions on ways Israel is allowed to go after Hamas. Just pearl-clutching whichever method.
Perhaps use its military might on the ground in Gaza ... tanks / armoured vehicles, modern weaponry and air support etc against a few RPGs and machine-guns without needless civilian collateral damage? ... lots of pearls there ...
If the UK held Israel to our own foreign policy moral standards, there wouldn't be a single Palestinian left alive. The UK and US have jointly wrecked more damage and ruin on foreign nations in the modern era than the rest of history combined. They are hardly in any position to deliver lectures on the subject - and Israel knows this.
Erm...what? Of course it's a problem. You can't on the one hand say you believe in a ceasefire (which they clearly didn't) and then assassinate the main guy you'd be negotiating with. Haniyeh was the negotiations person. And this has given Netanyahu exactly what he wanted - to avoid making a deal.
