Yeh I think he did take a step or two more than he should have, doubt he would have saved it but the dive wouldn't have looked as weird haha
Better 2nd half, we look better when Seri went off and Longman came on. Credit to Matty Jacob who had a much better 2nd half, Longman did well, McLaughlin was probably the best player for us. Once we upped the tempo we do look better, small signs of things to come, hopefully.
If he leaves, he's likely going to Millwall, so it's a bit disrespectful to state he's not a championship standard player. He's maybe a squad player at the level we want to be, but he'll contribute.
Leaving that side open helped make the strikers mind up and gave him an easy decision. Same as going down too early for the 1vs1 at Fenerbache. No doubt he has potential, but his positioning and decision making he's way naive.
i said a good championship attacker which he is not we have had a fair few of those, we should know he wont be a starter for us anyway
Squad player, I reckon. Or he'll go to Millwall. Made a difference when he came on though, and he looks a man, not a boy now as he did maybe 12 months ago.
i hope hes not a starter for us, no offence to him, but we want better levels but in a long season, he will be a useful squad player
Agree he’ll prove to be a useful squad player, but he has definitely shown enough in glimpses that with confidence and game time he can be a championship level attacker.
I went to the game and for the first time in my life I left at half time. The first half was dreadful. We conceded a very soft goal and could have conceded another two or three from free headers in our box. I saw no evidence of this 'Walter Ball'. Oscar never touched the ball with his feet for the entire first half and only touched it once with his head. No-one else had a shot at goal. It was like watching paint dry. They were far better than us all over the pitch. I also lost my bank card at the stadium so if anyone in the West Stand or on the concourse found one, it's probably mine.
Yes, but there's no getting away from the fact they were comfortably superior for the lions share of the game, as you'd probably expect. Even so, we look really susceptible turning the ball over on the edge of their third. Almost Shota-like open.
Agreed. We are desperate for some new blood, feel a lot of players don’t trust themselves in 1v1 situations to go forward. I think it would be fair of Walter to tell our players to not go all out as injuries would make the start of the season near impossible to get through
That's not just about individual quality though. It's also confidence in the system. For a period, every mistake we made in their half led to them having a meaningful attack. That's going to get punished in the championship unless we can plug some serious gaps. And I also think if there were points at stake we don't get let back in, certainly for our equaliser, they'd just shut up shop not go for a 3rd.
