I do not think there is a single mention of race in any of the long conversations we had about this?

Tory austerity was ideologically targeted at the poor and public services. I am not a fan boy of any party - as some of the Tory lot appear to be - and if Labour don’t change the situation for the poor they will lose my support.

However, so far they have been competent whereas anyone who think that Tory lot were competent is utterly delusional.

If you're talking aobut the Femi thing then the headline was pretty obviously trying to suggest that. I don't think they need to stretch any truth on the Femi being thrown out on that subject as I'm sure there is plenty of actual subject matter they can get their teeth into rather than setting up planted actors and pretending that professional activist and antoginist thrown out not because he's a professional activist and antagonist but then that's the Novarra media style.

No, you said people were going down the ‘racially aggravated’ route for the policeman incident. I haven’t met a single person who thought that, and for all our arguing I have not seen that view expressed here.

The Tory lot were incompetent. We are about to see the Labour lot show they are ideologically pretty much identical. Say different things that they'll never do but what they actually do will be same.

Well, glad you have a crystal ball. Will bring these posts back up if Labour do manage to make us a more socially caring society.

And that has to start with young people.

I am not talking about here. I am talking about the online and on screen professional victimhood lot. There was an instant accusation. From ex police chiefs with a narrative to feed immediately blaming it on institutionalised racism to guests on news channels doing it. Quite surprisingly Andy Burnham has been the voice of reason not jumping to conclusions while many on the Labour and media side were quite happy to jump on it immediately.

I wasn't suggesting posters on here had done so unless I've scanned past that :D

Politicians and media folk and twitter folk are people. "people are saying" seems fine for use if people are saying something. I didn't say "everybody is saying." Just those who have an agenda or like to stir up things.

Lol. If they mess it up it will be spun as being better than it would've been. I daresay what I see and you see will be assessed differently in our different minds but feel free to present your idea of the vast improvement you perceive in 5 years time :D I'm sure they will be a roaring success in some people's eyes.

Oh look Labour have said they're going to raise taxes already. That didn't take long. They won't be daft enough to raise income tax in their first budget. That will come further down the line.

Well, I pay quite enough tax thank you very much. I understand that they need to raise some taxes with the mess that the Tories left behind but they can target the wealthiest part of the population.

Like adding VAT to private school fees to fund new teachers. That's a good idea, I'll give Labour praise for that one.

But I earn less than the national average salary. If I have to pay more tax on my earnings then Labour can go **** themselves.

“On Tuesday, Ms Reeves repeated the Labour manifesto commitment of no VAT, national insurance, or income tax increases, but did not rule out inheritance tax, capital gains tax, or pension reform.”

So which of those listed are going to target you? Because they disproportionately target the wealthy as it is the wealthy who pay the most in capital gains (trading in property that isn’t your primary residence or making large profits on share trading) and Inheritance tax (which impacts far fewer estates than most people believe)

Where did you get the idea that you personally would have to pay more? What article. My quote came from the BBC. And the only way of reaching your conclusion from that one is to just read the headline. Which I’m assuming wasn’t the case here and that you read something else?

Granted we don’t know if the inheritance tax changes will mean lowering the threshold, raising the rates or both. I expect both to an extent. And I have no idea what is meant by pension reform so can’t fully comment.

There is such a desperation for Labour to fail. I just don’t get it. This is not football. It isn’t tribal. This is the future of our country. Is it just that Labour aren’t your party and must be evil? Give it a year, at least!

Some aren’t giving it a month. Apparently Starmer was shouted at as not welcome in Southport. How is this anything to do with him?

Looking at the people who showed up to ruin the vigil, I don’t think it was anyone he should care about.

This is the thing isn’t it? A lot of the very vocal critics are people who never voted for him and are never going to. The gobshite rabble rousers on the left who tried to sink Labour before they even won? Well they overplayed a non existent hand because now why do Labour need to appeal to them at all? They won without them. Same with the Muslim rabble rousers who cared more about Gaza than the UK. Cost Labour about 4 seats and ran some close. But no actual impact really.

And then on the other side the die hard conservatives who still voted Tory despite everything that they’ve done over the last 14 years. And will simply never vote Labour or indeed anything other than Tory. For example I assume my parents will not get the winter fuel thing now due to means testing. But they would have voted Tory regardless. Despite acknowledging how bad they messed up. Because “Maggie was good for us” and “they shouldn’t have got rid of Boris”. Those are the people most likely to be calling phone lines and saying they will never vote Labour because of losing a winter fuel allowance that they only have because of Tony Blair in the first place

You just have to roll your eyes at times

I’m sure there is some political naivety in the above. Bound to be
