Watching women’s gymnastics. Good to see they look like women. Remember years ago that all the successful gymnasts (mainly from communist countries) looked like underdeveloped emaciated children…the result of cruelty, drug use and sexual abuse. The latter sadly not completely wiped out…as shown by Simone Biles experience.

I was thinking the same Fran. There were exceptions of course, like Nellie Kim and Ludmilla Tourischeva, but as you say, nowadays even the teenagers look fully developed.

Heartbreaking for the GB women to miss out on a medal by just 0.2 points. Incredible performances by all 4 of them.

The USA team were just on a different plane altogether though, quite wonderful to watch.

The Belgian pair might not have been too well known, but they made the French Open final last year. So that really was an impressive win for Murray and Evans.

The schedule for the men's double is interesting, because things are currently over-running. The QFs were meant to be today (not tomorrow), with the SFs tomorrow. Fortunately, Thursday is essentially built in as a reserve day to cater for such a scenario. So having the QFs tomorrow and the SFs on Thursday still works. However, only seven of the eight QF pairs are known. There is still one final L16 match to be played - the winner of which just so happens to be who Murray and Evans will play. Potentially therefore Murray and Evans might strike lucky, if their opponents are required to play twice tomorrow. It might even be more than twice (eg Taylor Fritz is involved in that L16 match tomorrow, but he's also scheduled to play in both the singles and the mixed doubles tomorrow too).

The alternative is to delay Murray and Evans' QF until Thursday, but that does then cause problems. (At the moment, only the other three QFs have been confirmed for tomorrow as far as I can see.)

Did my usual thing. Give up on a Brit, turn over and miss a gold medal. When I left Bergere was closing in on Yee and I thought ok a bronze probably. Remember this is the woman who missed Murray’s first Wimbledon title because I gave up (luckily Murray didn’t).
