Nobody on here knows if we're pissfarting about or not, transfers are complexed and unless you work in that area you don't know. I only know we need a striker in asap but the window will still be open after the Cardiff match and you don't win or lose anything after 1 match

There’s 4 league matches in August tho and those games could be the difference between a play off spot or not. When we got play offs it was decided in the last game of the season.

This, there’s so many factors at play.

For example we may be wishing to move into that next bracket of player we’re able to target (people are casually mentioning £5m buys on here as if SAFC just have that cash and PSR/FFP wriggle room sitting there doing nothing) and will need a big sale before doing so. We can’t force other clubs to move on our players and we have to negotiate prices that are right for us. That in itself holds things up and it would be folly to fill valuable squad places with lesser players for the sake of it in the meantime.

There’s been over £100m spent on transfer fees in the championship already this summer. If the selling club ask for a figure and we’re happy to pay it we’ll get our man. And we more than have the PSR wiggle room lol our wage bill isn’t high and we sold Stewart for more than we spent on transfer fees last season

There is but all I'm reading is we need one in before Cardiff, my point is no one knows what's going on so you cannot really say the club is piss farting about. Hopefully we get someone in soon so we can all get behind the team and singing from the same page

As I say I do think we’ll get one, I just hope we don’t wait until the end of the window just to pay what we would’ve paid a month prior and had the striker settled by now

Boro showing ambition by charging way more than Sunderland for SC's ...

... this from Football League World so I assume they're reasonably accurate.

"The Black Cats' local rivals Middlesbrough boast the highest, cheapest season ticket price for an adult of any team in the Championship. Theirs is £574 a whole £134 more per season than what Sunderland charge."

I'm not relaxed about the striker situation. Season starts in 11 days. All games are vital for points.

Of course all games are vital for points, no1 is saying they arent

But we can still beat Cardiff with the squad that we have now - id def prefer having a new quakity striker in that squad but we can still win

Its being implied that by us not having a striker we will drop points in those 1st few games, no guarantees that we will drop points

If last Saturday is anything to go by, we'll drop points due to our inability to find a final pass rather than our lack of striker.

Easier to execute if your striker is finding space.

Nah he did alright. The errors were basic. Blown simple entry passes from Neil, Browne, Clarke at key points with plenty of open space to work with. Not too concerning as its about rust (and from players who we know for sure can produce those when up to speed) but the main issues weren't down to Mayenda on Saturday.

Was a major factor last season, wasn’t just the strikers. The players around them were dreadful in a final third.

Also the football was too slow, so by the time we actually got forward the opponents could get plenty behind the ball.

Thats what le bris was talking about after the Blackpool game, that we have to learn to break these teams down that park the bus.

1 way we do it is by signing a striker that can play with back to goal, drag defenders about and be a threat with their movement. Its not the only way, its about playing at pace, having runners coming from deep at the right time, have wingers get to the byline at times, get fullbacks overlapping, draw defences out to you by being comfortable in possession when pressed

Just by signinb a striker wont fix all the issues of last season, itll help for sure as all (well most) teams need a CF

Even though we need a new striker in to hit the ground running - which in itself can be a tall order - what slightly concerns me is that the players are still learning a new way of how Le Bris wants them to play and I think it could be a few games in before the idea kicks in fully.

Always takes time for a new manager to implement his ideas, even great ones like pep take a while to get their tactics embedded

As long as we are seeing progress week on week then its a sign tje players are taking it on board

I get the feeling we will enjoy the football we play this season (hope this doesnt come back to bite me)

Maybe it’s a reaction to the tired old winges and bleats about other clubs doing things better than us.
