The Chelsea v Wrexham friendly exploded into a mass brawl after only two minutes.

Bordeaux have folded . The club informed the FFF that it was renouncing its professional status, obtained in... 1937. Player contracts will be terminated and the training center closed, in order to reduce financing needs.

In England this would have been a Championship club. There is something to be said for testing the financial viability of clubs before a season starts.

Yes they were. It throws the whole league system into disarray, with only three weeks before it all starts again. Do they play a team short, or keep a relegated team in the division? The later would work its way down the leagues, and could be difficult when they get to the regional leagues. Not sure what they will do.

I have been looking into what has been going on at Bordeaux. From many comments like this one, "It would still be a scandal if Gérard Lopez continued to work in football or run a business", the feeling seems to be that he was a dodgy owner. The final nail came this week when Fenway Sports, owners at Liverpool, pulled out of an investment deal. The club have filed for bankruptcy, and will have to start again as an amateur club. Should see if they will be able to play in their 42,000 seater stadium, or will move to a park pitch.

Sounds like Lopez is the Bassini of Bordeaux.

The ICT board are mad if they let that go ahead - as would be the SFA.

Whilst their Tulloch Stadium isn't particularly large, it's tidy and more than adequate for their fan base - but it's on prime land in an easily accessible spot in Inverness. I'd be confident in predicting that, should the takeover go ahead, the club will soon go out of business and the land redeveloped.

A close shave for the Aussie women's Olympic team yesterday. After trailing 2-5 to Zambia at one point, they scored four times in the last half hour to win 6-5.

It may have been a pointless exercise though - with only the USA left to play, I doubt they're going to progress any further.

In Zambia's case it was some very dodgy goalkeeping. And Australia's defence were bamboozled by some excellent goals. Zambia have the world's most expensive female player in their forward line - Racheal Kundananji - but she was second best behind their hat trick hero, Barbra Banda.

A week before the start of the new season, and Chateauroux have just published the season ticket prices for the coming 17 games. The cheapest seats are behind the goal, think Rookery, at a cost of €80, with a half season one for €40. The stand like the SEJ one can be obtained for €180 or if you are renewing €140. The posh seats with catering to keep you going throughout the games come in at a heady €300. If you are a student, there is a 50% reduction.
