Linford Christie documentary on BBC I Player is well worth a watch, the story of the best athlete ever to represent Great Britain in pure athletics. As a former club runner Masky can understand how difficult it is at low level (see IB and BFB) let alone super level (think Masky)! Never a fan of LC, as he always seemed cocky (again Masky) but now one realises how news writers crucified this man....what a terrible thing to do? I urge any of you to spend an hour remembering the quality of this man, Masky felt ashamed! Do not watch if you haven’t got a license Clingy! Masky Of Llandaff
It’s on a need to know basis Remote (Aka: sheep shagger extraordinaire), dirty boy! Masky Of Llandaff
‘Pure’ athletics? Christie is in the top echelon but what do you mean by a pure athlete? Daley Thompson?
Me and Mrs BfB watched it. Riveting viewing. An awesome athlete where clearly some people in authority had it in for him. Totally supported and reveered by his fellow countrymen athletes. A true story: - My daughter was in a netball tournament at the university sports centre at the top of Penylan Hill. Linford was there as coach to Katherine Merry, on the indoor track. Once the netball and athletics had ended Linford was doing a review with Merry when he was deluded by 40 or 50 girls in their early teens. He didn't stop smiling the whole time and didn't leave until he had signed every autograph requested and as many selfie as they could take. As well as all his sprint championships he has my total respect for that afternoon alone.
Of course, however I was talking about a Britain who at that time was the fastest in the world Nin, Bolt came after! Masky Of Llandaff
Just watched the BBC documentary on Daley Thompson. Now there’s a supreme athlete. Recall his personal battle in 1984 with the big German like it was last week.
I'll watch the documentary on Christie at some point as my opinion of him is far from positive. Maybe I'll change my mind. Doubt it but who knows.
