If you went to matches you would know where the club is...

Villa are a bigger club mind.. they're still I believe the 5th most successful English club and one of those successes was the European Cup.

We can dislike those facts and try to out trump that on something futile like having a bigger stadium or we can accept it and look to the future.

I personally don't care and just want Newcastle to do better than them next season.

Could easily be longer, if you're talking serious and consistent top 4 challenger.

Do you think I've never been ?

Nice deflection though... perhaps you will now answer what was fairly straight forward question Obi Wan?

Contrary to popular belief I love nothing more than when Newcastle score goals, however I will never under any circumstances allow my emotional decision making or something as unreliable as faith to lead me to conclusions.

I might come across like a ****, but that's simply because I say the things folk don't like to hear.

Saying things like Steve Bruce did as well as Rafa Benitez for two seasons and telling people that their arse looks fat is just my way.

I agree although I was thinking top 6.

    Top 4? 8 to 10

You mean where do I think the club is at in terms of 'the project'?

    OK, my honest view.

Genuinely slightly ahead in terms of on the pitch achievements (I don't think they would have expected a cup final and CL football quite so quickly). BUT, with a lot to do to get to where the club really wants to be in the future.

I still buy the ideal that it is a long term project. The owners knew this. However I think they underestimated the lengths the dirty 6 and even EPL themselves would go to slow us down with regulations & restrictions. that said we do seem to be playing it all by the book, so I think we will prevail - in time.

Right now I think we are 2-3 signings (hopefully sorted this summer) away from a team that can genuinely compete for top 6 & European football regularly.

I think in 3-5 years we might be able to compete for silverware. Obviously we 'could' have a good cup run and win something sooner (fingers crossed), but then so could various other teams.

I think Howe is setting the right foundations and I like that Mitchell wants to focus on developing youth. Whether Howe will still be here by the time we win something is clearly questionable, but I feel he has been absolutely perfect for the first phase of the project (of avoiding relegation and building a competitive team). I think another season with Howe will tell us whether he has what is required to go to that next level, or whether we need someone else to steer the ship.

So all in all, I am VERY happy with where we are vs expectations set by the owners. I think we are on track. But it was never going to be overnight success and some people have totally lost the plot with that.

We also need to realise the dirty aren't 6 standing still either, we are chasing a moving target (just look at Chelsea's dodgy dealings). We will get there, but we are about 5+ years from competing for the EPL title - unless we find some financial loopholes.

That's just my view. Happy to now be shot down in flames.

Firstly I’m asking people not to explain anything but to quote what Howe has said that is supposedly likely to cause any problems. Despite making that patently clear you still haven’t given that quote.
Secondly we’ve already covered Howes interviews and what he said in these interviews doesn’t give any controversy whatsoever on internal affairs although yet again I await your quote as to what he’s said that does but you’re clearly unable to do it.
Thirdly we are having this debate because you and others are creating something about it yet can’t back up your argument.
Ex Bournemouth manager comment meant what exactly? For the umpteenth time of asking

What he said is irrelevant he chose to open up a can of worms publicly and that's the bottom line.

Have you ever heard of the butterfly effect? It's just that if he hadn't said what he said there wouldn't have been any issue. Eg we wouldn't be talking about it would we just for a start.

If you can’t quote what he said that “opened up a can of worms “ how can you say that he has?
If you claim he’s opened up a can of worms of course what he said is relevant
    Ex Bournemouth manager?

I would argue that’s not the butterfly effect as you’ve already implied he said something fairly controversial which has then led us to all discussing it. Now if he was asked a question and he sneezed and that led us to discuss this matter then the butterfly effect would be the case.

    I know what he said.

It's not a claim it's what actually ensued.

I believe this to be half true. Whilst disinclined to believe positive things about Newcastle you're very keen to believe the negatives, I think it's pretty clear what your response is going to be on most topics before I read it. Not meant as a slight, I think you're just fairly pessimistic but fall into the trap that people often do of thinking the opposite of optimistic is realistic - it's not.

You are very happy to ignore facts when they don't fit your narrative. As is pretty much everyone - myself included - at times, I at least know that I am though!

As for the Steve Bruce and Rafa comparisons I can only assume you don't use league positions or points totals to justify that as you don't seem keen on relying on such objective evidence.

Are you talking about A sound of thunder by Ray Bradbury or shall we discuss the mathematician Lorenz?
