@brb here's the Cliffs Notes version for you: There were two land grabs of the West Bank: Jordan grabbed it in 1950 and held it until 1967. The Palestinian people did not vote for this, only their leaders and tribal elders did. Jordan kicked all Jews out of the West Bank at that point. Israel beat Jordan in a war in 1967 and conquered the West Bank. Jordan still refused to consider Palestinian statehood until 1988. Israel massively ramped up settlement expansion from 1988-2004. It has slowed since then, but is still increasing. Israel is probably the only country in world history that gets punished for winning wars.
