Oscar is a natural finisher. Worth their weight in gold but needs someone up top with him. Like others have said, he wouldn’t create much on his own but I would certainly have him playing a part this season.
No doubt bad reversals v Brizzle and Plymouth will see a few bodies through the door of anyone with a pulse. So much for a planned and managed recruitment campaign.
What’s your role at the club? New member since the 21st July. And no to both of your last two points as we won’t.
This forum is becoming as bad as the Facebook group. No one gives a **** about friendlies. The season isn’t won or lost in the first month. We were in prime position for the playoffs in January, strengthened the team and then fell away. That was far more on Rosenior team selection, tactics and making players play out of position than anything else.Meanwhile at the beginning of Jan, Norwich were 13th and ended up 5th. Our star larkers for this season (loanees) will come in the last day of August and the last day of January. There is absolutely **** all Acun or Tan can do about that timeline. In the mean time, Tan has to get best value from the Greaves/ Philogene money as all the other clubs try to call our bluff waiting for a higher price on our targets. We have to make those clubs believe we will look elsewhere if they won’t accept our price. regardless this is a waste of my time writing this because the conspiracy theorists already have Acun looking for an exit plan.
If he’s a natural finisher and worth their weight in gold, and I hope your right and scores goals for fun. But he left us and ended up at Metz, I know he had injuries but if my memory serves me correctly he warmed their bench and didn’t score They let him leave and he ended up warming a bench in Brazil, admitadly his scoring record was better. If he’s as good as this board say, why has he warmed benches and didn’t play in Europe at a decent level ? Afterall he’s a goal scorer worth his weight in gold
Becasue like all players at this level Theres flaws in his game that the top level players dont have But hes a good goalscorer at our level He doesnt offer much outside the box, but he will get on the end of crosses and loose balls inside the box
Fair point. But then are teams going to prioritise loanees for starting places? He was probably demoralised after being sent out on loan too, and correct me if I’m wrong but injured some of the time? I just think a happy Oscar (with the crowd singing his song - he does have that great song you know! ) in a system which will hopefully give him plenty of chances, will be a hit. Time will tell!
Actually been a member for over 15yrs, just not posted for a while and resetting password wouldn't take. Supported City for almost 40yrs, and actually know a fair bit about recruitment, team development, and how sporting transfers work. I have mates who are ex-pro footballers and rugby players so understand the transfer system. Unfortunately don't have any "itk" info ref transfers. But common sense and intelligence will tell you we will recruit very soon, and likely decent targets.
