I can guarantee the club doesn’t have a system in place to record such information. Under Sandgaard, piles of free match tickets were left on the counter in a local Londis (I think it was in Plumstead). How do you track that ? Kids for a Quid a couple of times a year is all good, particularly for unattractive home fixtures, but Paul Elliott (who ironically lives in leafy suburbia) needs to realise that the reason people don’t buy tickets to watch us is because 1. The football has been crap for years 2 The tickets are too expensive 3. They are too tight to buy tickets 4. They choose to spend their disposable income on other things. None of which justifies doling out thousands of free or discounted tickets. I actually think there is something quite cheap and disreputable about taking a free ticket / hospitality off the club / owner, and I have never done so, nor would I. If you can’t afford £30 or whatever it is ….well
0% - None Or as close to none as makes no statistical difference. One person in a thousand maybe? Not even that many.
None in my experience, including 20 kids from a football club whom me and my mate took to a Premiership game 20 years ago, courtesy of John Cartwright. Some people just wait for the freeebies to come round before they go.
Chicken George are sponsoring the Goal-of-the-Month competition. An "exciting partnership" which should cheer up the doomsters and the gloomsters and dispel any doubts about a bright future under SE7.
Birmingham City (a similar size club to us) have sold over 16,000 ST. They have US owners with a poor track record in English football as well. Try as he might - and boy does he try - there is a Methven - drag factor at CAFC from his disastrous spell at Sunderland .
A new medical team, a relaid pitch, a new burger van, signing new players. All of a sudden Charlie and gang are going to turn things around
Charlatan's, who think they are good at PR. As they say in Texas, the SE7 Partners SMT are all hat and no cattle.
This SMT are all piss & wind - you saw it out on the pitch tonight. They have had 2-4 transfer windows now, and we are still miles off having a squad that can compete for promotion. 8-8-8 strategy my arse hole - it may have taken in Bamber Gascoigne- Mundell & the Statto Bros, but 8-8-8 could be an algorithm for failure ahead of anything else. Where are our “8 elite players” on that showing? Coventry is a one good game in 4 player like Fraser, and Small was absolutely ****e tonight. WTF is Tennai doing ? Where is Taylor ? Why is 33 year old has been Godden out injured already ? I would hang my hat on Methven, Rodwell & Scott failing this season. It’s a certainty.
This has gone right over my head. I thought 8-8-8 was an online casino. I know in the far East folks are obsessed with the supposed lucky qualities of the number 8. And I imagine there is some far-East component to the ownership of CAFC these days. I'll ask what 8-8-8 actually is in this context, though in truth I can't be bothered to go and find out myself.
As explained by the SMT: They want a squad of 24, 8 of them youth products from our Academy; 8 "elite" players; 8 ordinary L1 players. Such a bizarre concept at many levels. If you must use the term "elite" then apply it to the likes of Bellingham or Haaland, although personally I can't stand the whole idea of elite football. Then the mandatory 8 Academy players- no matter the quality of the crop of players in any particular year, just make the numbers up. Then 8 journeymen, who presumably have to doff their cap to the elite players. Got that?
It is the most bizarre concept. How about a 24-0-0? It is obvious to all Charlton supporters that this squad is not good enough for promotion. We have no flair at all. We found it impossible last night to break Birmingham down. This is going to happen a lot this season. The players brought through the Academy were really poor. I think we have been sold a pup in Berry. I think we will finish in 11-12 place this season. Unless something drastic happens in the transfer market, which I doubt will happen.
When Rodwell first came out with his 8-8-8 bollocks I said on another forum that it was nothing more than dead cat bounce PR speak. If you asked most fans at the time who our so called “elite players” were, they would have replied Dobson, May and CBT, all of whom SE7 have failed to adequately replace yet. In 200 years of Association Football, have you ever heard anyone apart from our spiv SMT come out with this 8-8-8 cobblers ? I have no problem with Kanu, Anderson or Campbell. They are not ready. They all need more experience, and would benefit from a loan at a league 2 club. They are being chucked in because the SMT hasn’t spent like it said it would. If Godden misses a third consecutive game this Saturday the grumblings really will start on why we signed him, given his recent career history.
NJ's tactics as described by Louis Mendez appear to be to stop the other team scoring and hope to nick something at the other end. Probably the best he can do with what he's got. It worked on Saturday, not last night, and it won't be pretty. Winning ugly will keep the fans onside when it's successful, but not otherwise.
