The pre-season thread - 2024/25

Midfield three have been great, we’ve played some lovely stuff in there. Unfortunately whenever it goes wide, the move dies - definitely need new wide players

 

Was just thinking how poor Edozie has looked and that Kamaldeen started brightly but now seems disinterested.

 

Have to agree with the above. Midfield is looking good, back four working well but all falling apart with the front three. Dibling shouldn’t be leading the line, Sulemana is a downgrade on Sam Amo and nothing is coming off for Edozie.

 

Going to rename Edozie ‘airshot’.

 

And right on cue Edozie misses another opportunity

Is it me or is there a bit of niggle in this for a friendly?

Build up play is excellent. What a decent striker could do in this team.

Good Half. Still look a bit vulnerable down the sides. But early in pre season.

 

We’ve used the long ball between the CBs/FBs, for a runner, 3 or 4 times today. A new go to tactic?

 

Good half. Actually scored that second as Montpellier were getting on top.

Negatives: McCarthy with buttery gloves and wingers wearing the wrong boots.

Positives: Defence looks good on the ball, midfield dominant, Tyler is a legend.

 

Would make sense as you’d expect teams to come onto us more in this division, rather than sitting deep and making us try to play through them at close quarters

 

I don’t think it is new. THB was doing it a lost least season too.

 

It's positive how we try to play forward quickly.

 

Really chuffed for Dibling, being played in an unfamiliar position but still provides a bit of quality and strength for his goal. Really want him kept at SMS to push the others for a place.
