Unsure. I do recall reading somewhere that the numbers could still be banked in the 23/24 season so long as the transfer was in the process before the June 30th deadline, even if it then signed off at a later date. There's a lot of unknowns here and the teams are never going to admit they were trying to rigg the system but honestly cannot see what else if could have been. This makes the Anderson fee make more sense as it seemed like we'd fleeced them at the time.
No complaints here. Look at City, they’ve said they’re signing more or less nobody. Liverpool have done something similar with Quansah, Elliott, etc all coming through. I’d love to see us get there, I think just right now we need to buy around 5 over the next 12 months. RW, RCB, CDM, GK, CF. Then if they’re all at that 22 year old mark, we can start to see youth come through,
Agree entirely. I think it's going to be 5+ years before we can realistically expect to "bring through" our own youngsters. In the meantime we'll be buying up 14-19 year olds to play in the lower ranks for a season or two, then loaning them out. The overall aim has to be to have players from the NE actually turning out for Newcastle having been in the academy from the age of 10 and are actually good enough to play in the Premier League. I'd also add that contrary to some of what Chaos suggests I think Howe is the perfect manager for that process. If you have a manager merry-go-round then it's more tempting for them to play it safe and use established players, if you have stability at the top then it's easier for them to risk bringing through the youngsters as they have more credit in the bank with the powers that be and with the fans (which also then helps the players as if they're under performing the manager is in a strong enough position to call out the fans if they are giving them a hard time and the fans have more faith in the manager that they've seen something in the player). I'm looking forward to seeing more of Miley, Hall, Tonali and Livramento this year. If we get a youngster on RW and CB that would be great and alongside the likes of Isak, Gordon, Botman who are young and established we'd have a pretty exciting spine for the coming seasons.
You say that but Longstaff had max 30 mins in the first 4 games when everyone was fit and available. He and Howe know his place and role in the squad. He'll get run outs in the cups and later in the season if we are trying to keep the stars fit for a QF/SF etc...

Nobody but nobody has ever dang a song along the lines of “ooh ooh the the Athens maradonna” about him. and as much as me and gg might have had a messy divorce recently…:: he k re it and I knew it about Anderson being overhyped
I actually think Andersons a really good player and was at times looking very good but nah I think Rowe is better personally.
I think Anderson is a good player too however Smith-Rowe isn’t much better. We also don’t play with a no10 unless you think EH will suddenly change the formation. When he’s not played no20 it’s more as a left winger which we have Gordon and Barnes
