Who'd be a copper in this day and age, really? Lose your rag with some belligerent drunken gobshite, and it's everywhere on social media. Not that cops should be lashing out like that, of course. But some punters have it coming.

Everything gets amplified now because of social media. This would have happened every day in the past and far worse which is wrong often and there are occasions where the police exert their authority too much and obviously instances they use their position to abuse their power and commit heinous crimes (Sarah Everhard) but this doesn’t really seem one of those at all. The rent-a-mob are out in force.

Shame the person who took the footage only handed over the bit in their favour, I see a few camera phones going there, what about the rest of the footage, the bit where they broke a coppers nose.

I'd like to see a balanced view of this story that follows both the officer and the person who started the violence and to see what happens to both. Can't find anything about the bloke who assaulted 3 police officers though it focuses on the officer only.

Have to admit the Philistine in me was thinking - why didn't they just wait until the scrote was down at the station where he might conceivably have lost his balance and have stumbled into a door...

Violence against the police should be condemned; violence by a bloke against a woman is disgusting, and, for me could only ever be justified / acceptable in self-defence - violence against a woman police officer doing her job is reprehensible... and needs to be seen to be condemned by community leaders of all faiths and persuasions...

I've just watched that video and it doesn't look good. The bloke is on the ground, lying face down and whatever has preceded that event, he's just been tasered so he's incapacitated and no longer a threat. The copper then just boots him in the face and then stamps on his head.

Copper has lost his head and lashed out. And as much as he's human and probs just lost the plot for a second. In that job he's got a responsibility and he's crossed a line, which will likely end up with him losing his job.

I know it's emotive, because people are saying 'But look at the ****, he's just broken a woman coppers nose' he deserves a kicking.

But as I mentioned on the other thread, Police are trained to deal with these situations and not to react in the way that he did. We live in a country where the courts decide what punishment to hand out, not one where the police kick the **** out of people in retribution.

Reacting the way he did has inflamed the situation and put his colleagues in danger as you can see people rushing in and another copper having to pepper spray them. He's lost the plot and made a bad situation worse.

From what I understand regarding armed police, they are actually trained to kick people...not joking, they really are. It's whether that would be deemed appropriate in this situation, obviously not. With armed police if you are told to stay still and keep your head on the ground then that is what you do, he did raise his head so if the instruction was given, he didn't obey it, like all the other instructions they probably failed to obey - again it don't justify the kick, but we'll leave his superiors to decide whether he broke the conduct code of his training. Not forgetting this is in an airport. Hopefully more will come to light once the bodycam footage of all those involved is released at the moment we've only got a snippet of time.

Why would they be in danger in an airport, don't get this, regardless if people rushed in?

Because he's inflamed the situation by kicking the bloke in the face and stamping on his head. You can see somebody then rush in and another copper has to pepper spray them.

The bloke who's been detained is tasered and on the floor. They've done their job, but he's then lost his head and lashed out.

He's made a bad situation worse by doing that.

No sorry mate I don't accept this, what is it with society that they think they can kick off and put people in danger. It's an airport, a civilised location. You observe, you intervene, but they should never be in danger, this is the mentality that leads to coppers getting assulted - they are doing their job, whether you agree or disagree with them, there is a process, I absolutely refute they should ever be in danger. If that's the case then he's justified with the kick, which he is not, it was retaliation pure and simple for what happened to his colleague, but an airport should never be a place of danger, I'm glad our police are there and armed, makes me feel safer, if anyone is intent on causing harm (your danger) they need to leave the room.

Absolutely. I don't want my coppers going soft in an airport, just do as you are told and move along. If there is a problem, deal with it in the proper manner, which is not kicking off in an airport.

I agree that he needed to be stopped. The point I'm making is that he was, because he was tasered and incapacitated. At that point he should have just moved in and cuffed him, he wasn't going anywhere.

The copper has just then lost his head and lashed out in retaliation. I get it, it's emotive, he's just seen his female colleague get punched. But as a Police officer he has a duty to act within the law, and by kicking him in the face and stamping on his head, he's crossed a line.

You were asserting that he put his colleagues in danger, what sort of society are we that leads to that, what does that say about us, regardless of what the copper did. Maybe you are a thug and think that sort of mentality is ok, oh look he just kicked that lad, let's kill them lol. #ThugLife
