Good Morning. It's Tuesday 23rd July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Goal machine on Leeds radar Leeds face a battle with Premier League new boys Ipswich Town over the signing of Blackburn Rovers hotshot Sammie Szmodics. The 28yo is in the final year of his contract at Ewood Park, and showing no signs of wanting to renew. The Tractor Boys have recently had a £7m bid turned down, which remains the only serious offer Blackburn have received for their star player all Summer! He netted an incredible 27 goals from 44 league starts last season, six ahead of nearest rival Adam Armstrong, and eight more than Summerville! Whilst Leeds are in need of a goalscorer with his abilities, we must remember he plays as an attacking midfielder, not an out and out forward. We've seen Farke tinker with the forward line last season, before conceding defeat and swapping back. Saying that, if the opportunity arises to sign someone of Szmodics's predatorial abilities, we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth either! please log in to view this image Summerville proposal could prove a Hammer blow for Leeds Transfer Guru Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that West Ham Utd have submitted a proposition to the Whites regarding the capture of Crysencio Summerville. The Leeds Talisman has been subject to much speculation this Summer, though few parties have actually come forward with any kind of proposal. Whilst the details of the bid are unknown, we are told that the Hammers have been in touch with the 22yo. We are led to believe that any deal to take Summerville to East London is a long way off, and with less than three weeks until the new season starts, Leeds will not want to part with their prized possession, as finding a suitable replacement will be extremely difficult! please log in to view this image Coops remains free agent Former Leeds Stalwart Liam Cooper remains a free agent, despite interest from Blackburn Rovers. The soon to be 33yo has been linked with several Championship clubs this Summer, but the stumbling block is the length of contract, not his wage demands. Coops is prepared to drop £15,000 a week in his salary (to £10,000pw or £43k a month) in exchange for first team football and a two year contract. Currently, Blackburn have offered a twelve month contract, leaving Cooper no further forward than he was at Leeds. It is believe Farke offered a similar package, which the former Hull City apprentice declined! please log in to view this image
Morning all I think we are all resigned to losing Gnonto if the price is right and Summerville, he said he is happy to stay, but if he does, we need him to sign an extension, otherwise we will be in the same position as Blackburn are with Szmodics next season. Personally, I feel he was very one dimensional, and depending on the fee, I wouldn't mind losing him if we get £35m or more. Losing both would mean starting with James on the left, Aaronson maybe on the right and if we signed someone like Szmodics, that would be an amazing attacking line up. As strong as last season (with a question mark over Aaronson) but lacking depth, we would certainly need to go out and bring in someone who could play out wide even if on loan. I'd imagine with the question marks over who will or might suddenly declare they want out, it makes sense for us to enquire about various players, even if is is on a "just in case basis"
Morning all. My question about Szmodics is that he is 28 years old, yes he scored 27 in 44 games last season but what is his goal scoring record up until then? I’m always wary about signing a player on the back of one good year?
I remember looking that up last season and his previous record wasn't impressive. Some suggested he might be a late developer like Vardy at the time
Good morning We already have a so called prolific goal scorer at this level in Piroe, but do we use him correctly? so even if we could land Szmodics would we play him to his strenghs or try to integrate him into a system which nearly nullifies his obviouse talents?
Anyone know anything about Szmodics? Are we about to sign another carthorse like Piroe? Or another sick note? I really know nothing about him, & worry if we're after another disaster-to-be.
Scored over 30 goals for Blackburn including a quality finish against us at Elland Road. Just checked and he's played 150 games over last four seasons so clearly not injury prone yet
well last season he scored 27 goals in 44 games. The previous 3 seasons he scored 26 goals in 112 games (or averaged 8.6 goals in 37.3 games per season) Didnt do much the season previous when he joined Bristol City (presume Lee Johnson had no clue what to do with him, so loaned him out to Peterborough) The two seasons prior to joining Bristol City, he played in League 2 for Colchester and scored 14 in 43 and 12 in 37. According to transfermarkt.com he missed 31 games in the 2015/16 season due to injury , played 19 league games the following season and since then he has played a total of 250 league games in the last 7 years (so an average of 35 per season, including the 2019/20 season when he played 3 times for Bristol City then 10 times for Peterborough after joining them on loan in January 2022. If you ignore his first season at Bristol City, then he has averaged 39.5 games per season in 6 of the last 7 seasons )
The retirement League of 2. Wait till Celtic win the champions league this season by supporting real madrid etc.
150 will quickly be diminished should he sign no doubt ...... come on paddy there's room for two on that lounger
A Celtic supporter? Hang your head in shame! No mention of the great Ronnie Simpson, the Lisbon Lion. Tut, tut!
