It's certainly seems very quiet so far. It's this RW position that's concerning me. We've got to get someone good there and CF also especially as it seems Wilson is injured again.
Not sure you understand what I'm saying but that's the point. He should say that directly but if he's deliberately playing the field eternally I think that's underhand. The only question is whether he meant to.
Arsenal about to sign Calafiori in spite of having Saliba, Gabriel, Timber and White who can all play CB. That’s how it’s done. The loyalty to clowns like Almiron and Wilson will get Howe sacked.
Roland mate Arsenal are way ahead of Newcastle in every way shape and form. They're a behemoth in comparison. We can only compare ourselves vs the old Newcastle and the clubs chasing the big 6.
Building a very very good squad currently tbf! Raya/Ramsdale/GK Timber/Tomiyaso White/Saliba Gabriel/Kiwior Zinchenco/Tierney/Calafiori Rice/Jorginho Odegaard/Partey Havertz/Viera Saka/Smith-Rowe Trossard/Martinelli Jesus/Nkhetiah/Nelson Massive amount of flexibility in the squad with most of them comfortable in a few positions like White RB/CB, Zinchenco LB/CM etc. The only issue I see for them is CF, plenty of cover, not a massive amount of quality.
Not meaning to directly compare, just suggesting what should be happening even if at a lower level. Less than 4 weeks to kick off.
Something will happen eventually mate...it's who they get for me rather than how quickly in the window. A little worried on the increasing number of plodders linked.
Luke Edwards saying that delays to transfer business have been caused by the recent changes to management structure. However, after recent 'clear the air' talks, led by Eales, Howe has agreed to sign players from a pre-selected (by Mitchell and scouts) shortlist, which includes players from overseas rather than focusing too heavily on PL experience. Howe is apparently happy with this as long as he has strong input into which players from the shortlist to prioritise, pointing out he drove the signings of Guimaraes, Botman and Isak. The article goes on to say that it's looking very likely that we'll sell Trippier and that other players more likely to be sold include Longstaff, Almiron and Wilson. Signing priorities are still RW and RCB, but we'll also be looking to add a new CM and striker if Longstaff and Wilson are sold. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...ear-air-talks-eddie-howe-england-manager-job/
Finally, something that feels like progress. Particularly cutting out the four mentioned. Very tenuous but Adeyemi has been suggested as Wilson’s replacement. So has Jonathan David. Nothing on a CM. RCB is mostly centred around Todibo, Thiaw and Tomori. RW has mostly been Madueke.
Phrases like “presenting a shortlist for Howe to review” and “looking to target right wing” with 3 and a bit weeks to kick off is a bit strange.
Seem to be lacking foresight and urgency. Kelly hasn’t even trained with the team so his readiness is questionable. The other two aren’t real signings.
