You mean for a back three ? Just who would offer cover in the event of injury/suspension ? Or would you just want that back three to play in every game ? OK, what if we pay a back four ? Two decent center backs plus ONE to cover - again it's just inviting disaster. If Ampadu is 4th choice center back, it means disrupting the midfield. Not a great plan. IMO, we need at least one more quality CB and a left back to cover Firpo (having an injury prone playing in Byram, as cover for another injury prone player is just plain stupid) We also need at least one central midfielder - and Aaronson is NOT it. And we need a striker as Bamford is another unreliable player. Summerville and Gnonto will probably leave, so we need to be prepared to sign one or two wingers (assuming that Aaronson fits in on the wing now).
CBs as part of a back four, Bogle and Firpo Byram as cover, yes still short but we’re on track. You can’t have 4 top players at CB in this division without causing unrest. You’d be mad bringing in a 4th when there are more pressing areas and we have to be within ffp. Looking at first team players we have sold Gray and Kamara. We have replaced them with Bogle, Rodon, Aaronson and Wober. So far so good and like I said before, more to come and go
No we need four CB's - last season we had Rodon, Struijk, Cooper and Cresswell - though the latter two were rarely used IMO, if Wober stays, we need at least one more CB - if Ampadu is to remain in midfield. And we've actually lost seven first teamers from last season: Cooper, Cresswell, Roberts, Gray, Shakleton, Anthony and Kamara. So that's two full backs lost and only one gained Rodon was here last season (I think you mean Rothwell), so we've lost two CB's and only gained one. It remains to be seen if Aaronson can command a first team place this season. He had a bad time two seasons ago and a poor season last term in Berlin. But even if he does we've still lost 3 midfielders and gained just two.
We are good for centre backs. We have Wober, Struijk, Rodon and Ampadu. If Ampadu has to drop back we have Gruev to hold the midfield.
No we haven’t, only Gray and Kamara were regular first team players. I doubt whether the others managed 20 games between them added up (Aski help )
There's another one out the door: Hull City have signed former Leeds United full-back Cody Drameh on a three-year deal. The 22-year-old turned down a new deal with the Whites earlier this summer.
