Piastri caused his own downfall by being so slow. Irrespective of the Mac strategy.

Piastri seems a fair bit more level headed than most fans are. He'll be annoyed about the stop order, but knows it's pretty awkward to expect your teammate to wait 6 seconds for you.

Norris didn't even look at piastri and piastri wont remove helmet.

Absolutely muted celebration of a maiden race win. Just going the perfunctory pictures and whatever.

Croft and bundle making crap up then as well.

Comment on what you are actually seeing.

This is absolute poison for macca.

He wasn't slow. He followed orders

He didn't need to burn his tyres to nothing proving some point. His team told him was was to happen.

This is now pure and utter poison.

Norris couldn't get near piastri for more than 2/3rd tje race so guess what, dirty air

Here's a video of Piastri "celebrating" his sprint win last year.

Muted reactions are just what he's like

As Martin Brundle said "He`s not the sort of guy to do back flips and cartwheels"

The reaction was virtually the same for both wins.

Anyway,it seems it was a somewhat hollow victory.

Im not so sure about this race win feeling hollow .

I say that because Piastri was in the lead and should have pitted first .

    The team changed that .

Had things stayed the same Piastri may well have won anyway .

Can anyone explain to me what Sky Sports think we get from Martin Brundle with a microphone trotting up and down the pit lane like someone who has just escaped from a Mental Home hen minutes before the race when NO ONE wants to talk to him?

Only down side today was the Oxford Dictionary definition of A total worthless person still managing to get some points today

    Tradition.

They did it with the bbc, sky bought it out and bundle was recent enough and sky had a big enough audience that people did want to tall to him.and them.

The reality is nobody remembers Martin bundle now. He's a random face at all but one race and sky are a no mark globally.

The type of celeb walking up and down have no clue about f1 anyone so if sky sent jenson button up and down or Damon hill they'd not be recognised either.

My view as an f1 fan not a circus fan is I don't want to hear from c listers anyway. If you can talk to 3 or 4 drivers and a couple engineers then I'd be more than happy.

Bit I'm getting past all this and 5mins before the race more than does me to tune in. Listening to croft and "ted" and endless wittering on about the race to come is tiresome.

I don't even watch the podium as you have to endure coulthard interviews then players sat about talking before the champers gets popped and the droning Ted's notebook is firmly in the bin.

I get more out of a few blogs and streams away from the race than their tiresome boring same old same old.

Must admit I really like Martins Grid Walk .

Not as much as I did , but I still like it .

I remember Brundle from his racing days .

Can see it both ways, sometimes a bit of selfishness will work, but in the long term you need the team. Vettel's was payback for Webber trying (but failing) to do the same thing, and Max is just a ****.

I loved hearing him called a child over the radio, made the race for me.

I do wonder if this is just Max being a bit of a hot head or if there's something deeper going on. His Dad and Marko feuding with Horner could be swept under the rug when they had a dominant car, but they don't and without Newey is it likely to come back?

Either way his driving was stupid today. With his lead, he just needs consistent top 5s to easily take the title. Risking DNF's with reckless divebombs over P3 make no sense at all.

Yes, I think hollow was the wrong word really. The team made a mistake and then Lando was reluctent to give the place back,so it took the shine off his first GP win I thought

    Just my opinion.

Alright guys. I was late watching this one due to some stuff we had going on. But honestly, I am at a ****ing loss.

They start out telling Lando that he's not racing Piastri, that he's racing Max. They pit Lando ahead of Piastri to try cover second, he winds up in a better situation because of it, and he has to give up the spot?

Sorry, but why the hell has Lando given this up when he was faster at the end?

Some of the stuff over the radio was almost threatening. I don't like it.

As for Max.. He just still can't race Hamilton without going for the ridiculous.

Happy for Piastri, but so much of that race was horseshit.

I don`t think that I`ve ever seen a race quite like it. It was very strange and a little bit weird really.

As you said, why the hell has Lando given this up when he was faster at the end? It was though he was gifted the race and Lando had to conform.

Then again, there would have been friction between the two drivers and throughout the team for the rest of the season so maybe Lando thought he had better do it.

As for Max,that could have been so much worse for Lewis with the RB taking to the air. Shades of Monza 2021.

I think there is friction created by this already. I think McLaren handled this all wrong.

Why not tell Piastri that they need to pit Lando to cover Hamilton, and then let him know that's he's going to need to hustle if he wants the win and that he has a race on his had? They completely screwed that

Yeah, that`s a really good point. They don`t seem to talk much at all to Piastri, unless it`s not broadcast onto the television.
But on those tyres,Piastri was falling further back anyway,so he he wouldn`t have caught Lando anyway. That would have been the correct result.

Hopefully,McLaren are learning from all these errors and Lando won`t be a could have ,should have driver for much longer. Squandered opportunities

This is my theory: McLaren are trying their best to achieve 2nd in the constructors if not 1st. During the race I'm sure a radio conversation was played to one of their drivers that reminded them of the pre race meeting and what was agreed. I believe that what was agree was what ever the positions are after the first corner that would be stay i.e. no challenging each other for position.
By pitting Lando early to cover Lewis, McLaren inadvertently put Lando on a better strat and gained track position. The problem was then, that the pre race agreement meant Lando should defer to Piastri. Lando had actually achieved 1st due to strat so no battling on track between team mates.

While I can understand McLaren wanting to stick to their pre race agreement I do think Lando should have kept 1st. McLaren are not used to managing strat and their drivers at the sharp end and I think their strat/driver management is showing a lack of experience.

Just Hamilton? Max can't race anyone fairly, or take any responsibility. Stewards should really do something about that lunge considering he'd pretty much told them he was going to do something like it when told to give the place back after his attempt to cheat was seen for what it was.
