You can't do that, transfers are assessed on a fair value basis I believe. It's why Man City can't just buy players for Melbourne City and loan them to Man City.
I wonder if we managed to get anything lined up with Villa, and get a couple of players on loan lined up
Morton at £5m wouldn’t be too bad, I think that’s top end of what he’s worth though and would be quite a gamble, but not a bad hit of business I don’t think. It’s a tough one to gauge because he can be unplayable when he’s on song but I’m not sure he’ll ever manage to perform at those high levels consistently across a season. I’m reminded a lot of Dean Marney who started his career like a house on fire then just never hit those levels again.
Walter wants physical midfielders, if we signed Morton for £5m we’d be signing a midfielder who’s not very physical for a big fee
We had two 'solid keepers' in Ingham and Allsop but Acun threw Allsop under a bus publicly and Ingham was shunned all last season. The reported £1.5m paid for Pandur looks a trifle inflated on what we have seen so far.
Hopefully the trifle doesn't become an Eton mess. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
In your opinion. We are now scaping about with two weeks to go before the season starts looking for another goalkeeper and probably paying well above the odds for one too, if we manage to get one, when this time last month we have two very capable keepers, and one untried, on our books.
No not in anyone’s opinion, by pure stats around goals conceded compared to goals expected to concede. Only Southampton’s Bazunu was worse.
Any ITK info mate? Because this is a deliberate fire sale isn’t it. But it’s completely forgetting the manager/coach has to have time to get to know and develop his squad I liked the look of pandur tbh
As a supporter of an impressive number years of solid support behind you, are you confident with a fortnight to go before the big kick off ? To me the only differance I can see between the present fiasco and the Phelan, Bruce induced, balls up was we had seven internationals signed up on that famous team photo, and today we have how many?
How is it decided if its expected to concede? I'm really sceptical of these kind of stats. I maybe wrong to be but I still am
Not particularly but what comes comes, I'm long past worrying about seasons to come. I'll just enjoy meeting up with mates before and after games and enjoying the day, long may that continue. That said, new players need to arrive and soon. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Its looking very much like a firesale Chazz. I think the Rosenior sacking was a knee jerk- reaction, on par with Robinson sacking Brian Horton back in the day, and look where that one got us. Read today that Kesler is saying we were 'successful' last season, hence the interest in some of our players. If we were successful why the need to sack the manager without a replacement already lined up? Were any serious talks undertaken to ask Greaves and Philogene to give us until Christmas? Why wasnt Rosenior given until Christmas, seeing as this was supposed to be a 'five year plan' So yes, Chazz, from where I am sitting it does look like a firesale and I'm not at ease with it. As for Tigerite... Stats can be made to suit any arguement you want. So are you saying that every goal City conceded last season was purely down to the goalkeeper and nothing to do with the players in front of him?
Saw someone on twitter mention Nat Phillips from Liverpool. Apparently leaving Liverpool and worked with big Tim at stuttgart. Although sounds like the scouse aren't upset to see him go.
