Hamas might possibly stop the slaughter in Gaza - by surrendering what's left of their 'leadership' in Gaza ... but Hamas are not just a cause of the Gaza conflict, they are a symptom / consequence of the wider, bigger, issue ...

The destruction of Hamas will not end the illegal settlements and occupation of the West Bank - Hamas were not, and are not, in power there ... and the Israeli regime cannot justify their actions there ... actions now being condemned by most of the world and formally declared Unlawful by the UN.

Any credible / lasting 'peace' now has to involve / address the creation of a sovereign Palestine ... without that, iterations of Hamas, different names / guises (probably) will thrive in the region and, given what Israel has done to the civilian population of Gaza, be much more populous and, as such, attract more monetary and arms support from the likes of Iran ...

Hamas are just another incarnation of Palestinian armed resistance. Brought about due to Israel's actions in Palestine. Before them it was the PLO and after Hamas it will be somebody else. This all started long before Oct 7th last year.

A peaceful two state solution is the ideal outcome, but the slaughter metted out upon Palestinians now, means that it's entirely likely more violent retribution will follow.

Palestinians were living and working quite happily with Israeli's until the October attacks and I'm not really understanding why you want a sovereign land, this is a human creation for what reason....ownership of land, segregation of people and religions are you really suggesting this.

I'm not sure Palestinians would agree that they were living happily with the situation, given the systematic land grabs and persecution since 1947. But if one ethnic group have soveriegn rights to their 'historical' land, then it's only right that the indigenous ethnic group also have sovereign rights too.

The only logical conclusion not to grant a Palestinian state would be to amalgamate the two into one country called Palestrael, and ban religion

Imo, the whole premise of 'this land is ours because we are God's chosen children' and we'll obliterate anybody who stands in our way is completely ****ed up, on both sides. It's not a great leap from what ISIS stood for. Creating a religious state, with the intention of wiping the people who believe in a different God off the map.

It's one of the worst traits of humanity.
