This picture, understandably, keeps popping up. The big difference to then v's now is the quality. That was a very decent 9 to build on, plus the iconic photo conveniently ignores the fact that we also actually had a handful of other quality players that were missing at that point due to short term injury (M Dawson, McGregor, etc). Compare that to what we currently have left.
You need to compare apples with apples - Allam had a wealth of around £400 million and took the club debt to around £100 million at one stage before he started clawing it back - on the other hand Acun has circa £80 million and is unlikely to want to see debts go above £20 million - we really are in a totally different position now - we really don't have a mega rich owner any more - we need to get used to it and appreciate just how much Acun is actually putting into the club
someone should be able to do the back of a *** packet calculation with purchase price - annual running costs, player sales, player purchases - think we lost £20 million last year - so Greaves and Jaden cover that - ultimately he's not going to keep spending millions each year as his net worth will soon be two tenths of five eighths of **** all
There is zero chance Acun is running the club on his own personal wealth if he's truly only worth around 80-100m. The club alone cost 20-25m and with the guesstimate loss of 20m last year that'd be half Acun's wealth gone. And yet he's still going around investing in other clubs amongst other things.
Maybe Tim hasn't watched enough videos of us yet?!? -> It's no problem that Mika loses the ball in the situation where this player normally never will lose the ball, so for me, it's no problem." So basically saying that TLT and HC, both having gone out on lower league loans, aren't good enough. And wasn't TLT bought to join the senior squad in the first place? We probably do need another senior keeper, and Ingram wasn't the answer, but bigger priorities (?) and yet another signing to be made.
I've had us down for needing a keeper since Allsop left. This total faith most people seem to have had in Pandur to be the comprehensive answer to our goalkeeping situation based on very little never made sense to me. This new keeper we sign will surely be a specialist who can play TW's style, like LR did with Allsop.
No shame indeed. But your level of constant criticism of Acun and Tan would suggest we are instead a guaranteed relegation club. I don’t think anyone seriously believes that we won’t have significant reinforcements by August 31st.
I don’t think anyone has seen enough of Pandur to make a judgement either way. What they have seen is the fact that Allsop and Ingram were unlikely to be the answer if the ambitions are promotion
Stuff going on in the background we complain.............our targets get out in the open, we complain.....the club cannot win
True. But tbf, it's not so much complaining about stuff being done in the background v's in the open, it's more the fact that we've seen 18 players leave (several of whom needed to move on) without us making even ONE new signing so far. Come Monday, it will be 2 weeks, 5 days before k.o. and the summer training camp is now over. I think people on here are being incredibly patient and trusting considering how extreme the situation actually is.
Stay calm lads, it’s obvious that all 10+ targets are delayed due all of them having been on international duty for there respective countries and are currently on a well earned holiday. If we want to see a mixture of aggressive attacking football and bigger success than Bruce’s , we are going to have to be patient. If anyone wishes to join me on my planet your all more than welcome and woods navy rum 57% is also a big help
