Adam Armstrong signed a new 3 year contract. We love giving new contracts to average players. Can easily see him struggling with the PL again and then us being stuck with him, though granted if we go down he'll be useful back in the Championship again and maybe thats more why we've done it.
He was one of our best players last season, how is that average? Like you say, if he is crap again in the PL and we go down then we have the best striker in the championship. If he improves and scores 12 goals that keep us up then even better. Whatever happens I'm not sure how this can be seen as bad business.
He was an important player for sure and without all his goals and assists we wouldn't have gone up. Wouldn't have even called him the best striker in the Championship last season. He looked lost playing the striker role for us, he was very productive for us on the wing though. He usually needed several good chances a game to score, and his touch often lets him down. His ability as a player, I would say is average. His attributes to make him a good PL level are very limited. That's my opinion and maybe I'm the only one with it. I just don't see him stepping up to PL level. I'll obviously be delighted if he proves me wrong (again! as he did last season). I don't know how long he had left on his existing contract either tbf. If he just had this season, then the renewal probably makes sense because chances are we do go down and we'd need him again. But then I did say that in my original comment too.
I think it was just the 1 year left on his old deal yeah. In fairness if I had to stick money on it I would agree with you and say he will likely struggle again in the PL. He does need a fair few chances and we will probably not get that, but I think he is an acceptable squad option for lower prem sides and an elite player in the championship. So for Saints, who will likely be either lower PL or elite championship for the next few seasons, he is perfect!
Can someone not going check to see how Many Newcastle tickets are left? Curious to know if we've stuck with full allocation or have returned some.
Cheers, is L7F the most left hand block? As they only opened 3 from the right originally so done pretty well if so!
Nah, on the seating map it goes L7F, L7H, L7J, L7K, L7L, L7M with tickets only showing as available in L7H
Cheers, so F might not have gone on sale yet. Pretty good going though if we've sold nearly 5 blocks. Never normally get many travel up there
Mental that. Must be one of our biggest followings up there in recent times (if not the biggest). How many did we sell for the cup semi. Seem to recall it being around 2.5k.
