I think the interviewer comes out looking worse tbh. Deliberately trying to make him look as bad as possible when in reality he is there for only a couple of days at an important time.

Maitlis - the interviewer - is clearly heavily biased.
I think Farage's intentions are transparent. She didn't need to make him look bad, he did that himself. She just gave him the rope.

I just love the ****ing enormous bandage they have put on trumps ear. My mother would put excessive bandages on my little cuts to stop me crying when I was a little boy and in her words to show "What a brave little soldier" I was. It's a pity they didn't put just as excessive bandaging across his face and mouth. It would shut him up.

Interesting observation. An infantilising of Trump to support his, lets face it, infantile rhetoric.

That is ****ing hilarious and just about sums up those people who support him. Pure ****ing fantasists and all thick as ****.
I think Os has missed the object of the joke and believes it is a joke about Trump being shot. It isn't. It is a joke about "people who know what happened" when actually they are just guilty of confirmation bias. It is nothing to do with a man being shot at at all.

With Trump likely to be re-elected, time to take note of the man chosen to be his running mate, JD Vance.
Quite a rise in the ranks for a man who, 8 years ago, was referring to Trump as America’s Hitler and who is now saying that with Labour in power the UK is now the first Islamist country to have nuclear weapons.
Bad enough having a divisive, old fruit cake in power, but it looks like he will be backed up by a younger fruit cake.
Buckle up.

DONALD Trump’s pick for vice-president is facing a backlash after suggesting the UK is an “Islamist country” now Labour are in power.

JD Vance, the Ohio senator chosen as Mr Trump’s running mate on Monday, said we would be the “the first truly Islamist country to get a nuclear weapon” at the National Conservatism conference in Washington DC last week.

Vance, 39, said he had to “beat up on the UK”, as he told the conference crowd about a recent discussion with a friend. He added: “I was talking about what is the first truly Islamist country that will get a nuclear weapon, and we were like, maybe it’s Iran, you know, maybe Pakistan already kind of counts.

“And then we sort of finally decided maybe it’s actually the UK, since Labour just took over.”

Deputy PM Angela Rayner said: “I don’t recognise that. We won votes across different communities across the whole of the country.”

Shadow Tory minister Andrew Bowie condemned the remarks, saying: “I think it’s quite offensive to my colleagues in the Labour party.”

Unfortunately JD Vance is correct. Although he was somewhat joking, it’s a real concern.

There are hundreds of thousands of people (and growing) in the UK who have zero intention of assimilating. Their sole intention is conquering, not living peacefully.

We are tolerating too much and eventually it will cause serious issues across the whole of the UK.

Ah yes, the tolerant left.

Cheering a man almost dying and then swearing at anyone with a different opinion.

Thank you for continuing to confirm all of the stereotypes

The fights and testosterone comment is very strange coming from someone whose cult worships a man who was scared to fight (draft dodger - not that I can blame him on that from for that war but it’s still hypocritical), has almost certainly never been in a real fight in his life (a fake fight with Vince McMahon on WWE doesn’t count) and being nearly 80 likely has almost no testosterone left. And even before that his lack of physical fitness, and exercise and his excess fat would have almost certainly put him in the “below average” category.

It’s almost as if none of that is relevant. It’s a really weird thing to have ever brought up. Especially when you extend it out to other prominent politicians in on the right and centre right - Boris, Rishi, Farage, Maggie Thatcher. None are exactly the peak of testosterone with lots of experience in fights. The complete opposite in fact.

Add the fact Trump sports an outrageous dyed hair configuration, elevator shoes (why they recently fell off; his heels are barely in them), is never seen without copious make-up and of course is a nonce - being a civilly liable sex offender.

In pictures at Mar a Lago alongside his neighbour of both in NYC and Palm Beach, Jeffery "he's a great guy! likes them even younger than I do" Epstein, Trump has his eyebrows dyed comically coal black.

The guy is an utterly bizarre avatar of "manliness", moreso for his followers to then use that wonky idealisation as some kind proof of their own.

What happened Joe?

How have you contracted covid even though you’re vaccinated?

<laugh><laugh>

His handlers clearly want him out of the spotlight to avoid anymore racist gaffes

Very good, you almost got me there. Pity it’s 3 and a half months late for an April Fool.

I’m not one to make sweeping generalisations , but what a pity so many right wing trolls are as thick as pigshit.
Pigshit unhappy about being associated with right wing trolls.

Genuine question, do you know much about Trumps actual policies and politics and what they'd mean for Americans?

I'm not claiming I do (I don't follow US politics closely at all). But all I seem to see from people in the UK is that Trump = Bad, but that is based on their opinion of him as a person and the odd news article rather than whether they think Americans would be better off with him as President.

Indeed. I don't particularly like Trump as a character, his personal bravery at the weekend may be the first unquestionably admirable thing I've seen about him, but from what I've seen his politics aren't especially out there for America.

Unless you buy into the "he's going to destroy democracy" narrative of course. But I've yet to meet anyone who can offer a credible explanation of exactly how he will do that.
