Getting a bit nervy now tbh. Long way to go, but the lack of anything is troubling. Can't get away from the really odd double crap GK signing as a worrying sign.
Nothing is really concrete as such until confirmed, but I've seen more reports today that we are being linked with both Gnonto and Summerville of Leeds. So either some journos are just playing catch up, or these rumours are hotting up. Meanwhile, Craig Hope says Howe has a £5m buy out clause in his contract - if England really do want him now.
Both aren't great options, tbh. Both a bit headless and lack real cutting edge when it matters, not really much of a step up from Almiron or Murphy (or Barnes). However, tends to be a bit of catch up so not concerned yet. Without Europe we got Isak, Bruno, Botman and similarly Spurs/Chelsea didn't struggle to get players in last Summer, so still hope we'll do good things in RCB and RW. If I were Howe, I'd be really tempted by the England job, it's not really going to come at a better time. The FA would surely be more interested in him than Potter or one of the foreign contingent?
Well maybe that’s what we’re waiting for? Bit crap if we spend £100m on Eddie signings then he goes to manage England and be manager has a different footballing philosophy
TS know how to create a story. That's about it though.... they have zero inside information on the preferences of EH. Personally think Potter will get it. Southgate to Man U.
I guess this way we'd get £5m compensation for Howe, rather than potentially paying him off at Christmas (if things aren't going as planned). IF he goes, we just need to make the right choice to replace him. But like Fadge says, I think Potter is more likely choice for England.
Potter's got nothing about him. If you were at the FA and you can have EH, fresh from UCL and 4th/7th finishes, known for a front foot and pressing style, or Potter and his pitty-patty keep ball at Brighton and failure at Chelsea, I know who I'd go for.
