Any chance of any more signings going on the tour to bond with the squad and fit in?

That's cracking news, the defensive side of his management was really the only real reservation I had about him.

Watched it mate yeah. I think it was more down to the opposition personally. We were playing an incredible weak shields team. Have freedom to do what we wanted.

Browne’s defensive stats are born out of him harassing and harrying - chasing the ball if you will. That’s not a skill that lends itself to being a sitter where it’s all about positional discipline and reading of the game. With our squad as it stands (even with Browne in it), Dan Neil is still the best equipped for that job (whether that’s the best use of him or not is a different argument).

Regis' comments when asked about a style of play he said high pressing and fast intensity, it was also evident in the shields game as we were pressing very high and very relentlessly

tbf, I'm not sure we even attempted to press like we were against shields with gateshead

I only watched bits and pieces of the friendlies but what I saw in the first half from South Shields was really really poor. I would take very little from it other than a training ground excercise. Not competitive at all.

shields used that game to get some young lads on the pitch to see what they could do so first half was a mismatch really, 2nd half was a different team but as we were 5-0 up and different players on and off we rarely pushed too hard...'the heed' wanted their lads to go for it and depending on which view you want to take, it was either a much better game or our lads were crap.

personally i saw them as good warm up games with RLB making a few notes and seeing who followed his instructions and how the players might fit into his plans, still a few games afore the real stuff so not praising or calling anyone yet ;)

Hell of a move that for him mind, very ambitious of the club to think he will play games at L2 considering his age and position.

Looking at their squad, looks like they've got no keepers at the minute, great chance for the lad to get experience.

Had some real stand out performances for the youth and reserve sides, also an England youth international. The big question is if he can convert some of that success into mens football.

€10m (£8.5m) for Kamara, I suspect they'd be spending all of that to get Ekwah.

Really want us to continue to develop Ekwah, but don't really want to see him as the deepest player in the midfield. Think the Neil-Ekwah switch at the start of last season was one of the big errors from Mowbray that contributed to the way the season eventually went.

Neil did ok the season before in that deeper role but when they went side by side with Hume dropping in we looked like a bunch of strangers and Ekwah has no heart for scrapping further back. I wouldn’t be sad to see Ekwah leave if I’m honest cos I’m far from certain about his willingness to compete

Neither (Ekwah and Neil) are suited to sitting deep.
