    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/2011/1...lennon-looks-at-jordan-rhodes-86908-23596550/

MARITIMO chairman Carlos Pereira has opened the door for Celtic to make a second move for £4million Baba Diawara.

Parkhead manager Neil Lennon has begun a global search for a striker and Scotland Under-21 star Jordan Rhodes is also on his radar. Lennon made Turn a trip south last night to watch the Huddersfield hitman against Charlton.

Can't see Diawara coming to Celtic. £4m? No chance. Would be good to see Rhodes at Celtic Park though. He fits the bill for our usual type of signing: young with potential.

no way we will spend 4 million on a player int he current climate. i also think lennon will have to sell before he buys anyone. i expect broony to go in jan which will free up 20k or so a week. rhodes wont be joining celtic anytime soon either.

In my opinion we need a wee bit of experience, a new gk and a new centre half.

Craig Gordon would be my choice gk wise. but i doubt we will get him

Diwara is now top scorer in the Portugese league , the top scorer in that league last season was sold for 35 million !! Think we missed the boat by not getting him in the summer . I think Rhodes is same type of player as Stokes and Hooper , we need a big target player for plan B when plan A isn't working

Aye, we signed Bangura instead. <doh>

I don't like to criticise players too much, but this guy has shown absolutely nothing to suggest he is going to be a big success for Celtic.

I really hope I'm proved wrong on this one but it looks like we've been had when we bought him.

I think we may well spend the £4m if we really believe we can increase the value, but the time to get maximum value was the summer and we bought the wrong guy. Lawwell is a ****.

We may not have bought the right guy, it does not look that Bangura is any good. However it is still eary days.
We don't know whose fault it is that Diawara was not signed. We also don't know he can do ajob for us. It takes all three parties to make a deal. The selling
club, the buying club and the player. We have no idea who stopped or wouldn't continue with the Diawara deal.
One thing is clear and that is over the past 16 months or so Celtic have bought a lot of first class players, so to say
that Lawwell is a **** is stretching it a bit.
I very much doubt that S Brown will be going any where this January or any time within the next 2 or 3 years.

I caught Sportscene at the weekend a program on the bias bbc according to our friends , first up Killie v Rangers an excuse to show Rangers winning the league last season . Their studio guest John Rankin an excuse to show the squiggler against Boruc 2/3 times . Then onto Celtic v St mirren an excuse to show st mirren winning there 3-0 in 1990. Thankfully we don't have a problem against the bbc!!!

To be fair TTC, Mohamed Bangura hasn't really been given much of a run to show what he's really capable of and it does take time to settle in - I think it's far too early to make a serious judgement about him. Was it not Henrik Larsson who recommended him? If that's the case, I'd like to think he has plenty to offer, given time!

I'm starting to believe the story about Larsson recommending the other Bangura, I see nothing in the one we bought.

Just watching the Barca game from earlier in the day. Bangura is playing up front for Rayo Vallecano. Looks a proper player and a good few years younger than the "22" year old who plays with us.

I don't believe that. I do believe the other one is better.

Some players play well at one club and not another. Sutton could not hit a barn door playing for Chelsea yet he
was a star at Norwich and Celtic.
    Bangura, we don't yet know.
Some players cannot play no matter what club they play for.
    Time should tell with Bangura.

It was pretty obvious that Chelsea didn't play to the strengths of Sutton.

It is pretty obvious that generally we don't play to the strengths of Samaras.

Bangura......it is hard to tell just yet.

Rebelbhoy I agree completely with you. Sometimes as a striker you have either to come with the reputation, or make your reputation as soon as possible after coming to get the team to play to your strengths. That could turn out to be Bangura's downfall if he doesn't get into the game and grab it by neck and show he can play.

Remember old Harold B, he should have been a great Celt but he never took off, not even after scoring 4 goals against Killie in one game.
Every signing, particularly strikers, are a bit of a lottery.

I was at that game. Larsson made three of them all by himself and laid tap-ins on a plate for Brattbakk. Henrik couild have scored all three himself but unselfishly played HB in for them. <ok>

I know Rusty Bullet. Larsson did everything in his power to help Brattbakk, not only in that game but others. He should have been a star but at least he got the important one that settled our nerves.
