I'm still playing at 70. They call it walking football. Play on a Sunday morning and could play Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at various places in the area. Been invovled in tournements and in a league. Its a big scene around here with loads of opportunities and the pitches and facilities are very good. Met some good lads and throughly enjoy it. I'd recommended it to anyone and its open age, I was in a tournement a couple of weeks back and a 84 yr old got a game! The stiffness in the old legs and back is not a barrel laughs but it does get better the more you play. I started at the Bonus Arena with the Tigers Trust, thats inside and as good a place as anywhere to start, no matter what your age or ability is.
There is a huge waiting list but if you do plenty of cpd with the ongoing learning available on your dashboard I'm certain it helps them when they are selecting who to offer places to. I've done a lot of courses on there, moat are free, and I was lucky I think my background in another sport helped. The assessors knew about that when I went to practical 1. Hope you get on, it's an amazing course and has changed me for the better as a coach.
Yeh, I facilitated a walking football group years ago and I was surprised at how enjoyable it could be. I'm pleased to see it growing as I will definitely take it up when the time comes.
Keep thinking about looking for a team for this season only thing I couldn't commit to playing every week
Think they play every other week, I couldn’t commit to every week. We’ve got 17 players allegedly, yet struggle to see more than 10 at training and 14 at a game
Don’t suppose anyone on here fancy’s sponsoring us for next season do they. We’ve got a lot lined up, just need a sponsors for the front and maybe one for the back. Jackets etc aswell might ask Acun tomorrow after all the senior tigers have thrown weathers originals at him
