What we thinking then? He won't change the side, maybe Shaw instead of Trippier. We'll go a goal down, we'll start playing then and maybe equalise. We'll then go back in our shells and play for pens. I hope to **** he proves all of the above to be incorrect, but honestly can't see him doing anything other than what he always does and cross his fingers. Be amazing if he actually says **** it, I'm doing this instead tonight, and drops Kane to sub and plays someone else.
Think that is the only change that needs making in the starting line up, Kane is too static and needs goals/chances making for him whereas Tony and Watkins are very mobile and create the spaces for chances to come.
I can't help but think that there's no other country in the world who'd be calling for their record scorer (who's still in with a shout of the golden boot) to be dropped for a final I do kind of get it as he's looked knackered but has looked better in last two and scored in each. I don't see him as an impact sub type player either; he's not someone who's gonna change a game when coming on so we're much better off starting him imo.
It's based on having watched all the other games in the tournament. I know there's this idea that we have to pick him, just in case. But he doesn't look fit, and he hasn't played well. That's why.
Wholly agree - only thing I'd add though is that Luke Shaw crossing rather than having to stop and come back might just provide some chances for him ... What can't really be argued againsy is that so far in the tournament we've looked more dangerous going forward without him ...
Yeah I did allude to that but thought he looked a bit better in the previous match. I think we'll get more out of him for the first 60 minutes then we would the final 30 (or 60) personally. And if a chance was to fall to anyone I'd still prefer it to be a 80% Kane then any other of our forwards. Academic either way I guess now. Let's hope he can get a goal or two!
At least we know he's prepared to take him off now, even if it's looking like pens. He did that v Holland and it worked. Spain will be fully expecting to have Kane up front though, and will be well prepped for that. Something different would have given them something else to think about. Not happening though, so irrelevant now.
Yeah I was surprised he took him off for the shootout against the Swiss and it paid off. Tbf it says a lot of his quality that even not fully fit he's the tournament's joint top scorer.
Kane’s job is as much to make space for Foden and Bellingham, as it is to be a goal threat himself. But he’s always a threat anyway, just needs the chances to come to him in a less crowded box than has been the case for most of the tournament.
since the 2 best spells of attacking by England were the first 39 mins against Serbia and the first half against Netherlands both of which had Kane on the pitch it would be quite easy to argue against . If you had said we would have offered more threat with Watkins it would be more to the point .
