Yes... Because you need more people with guns to shoot the people doing gun crime.

Rather than using thawed frozen peas and carrots, can you just use peas and carrots?

Really glad he wasn't more seriously hurt but my sympathy is somewhat tempered by his own role in the rhetoric that has gotten the US to this point.

Yes, and he's always trying to rile the crowds up talking about fighting and always saying things like there will be blood on the streets if he loses, etc...etc... could definitely be perceived as continually trying to provoke violence... Ironic he ended up the recipient.

I wouldn't have been too sad if he had died (as I see him as a great threat to democracy and also as someone who might cause more deaths himself) but shooting him is not the answer... It's going to rile up the rednecks now to try and get a shot on Biden and it's also going to energize his base more to vote.

I'm willing to bet the gunman saw himself more as a vigilante than an assassin.

I have no sympathy for Trump - he's a thoroughly nasty piece of work the likes of whom the world can do without, but I agree that violence isn't the answer. Innocent people (well, as innocent as a frontline Trump supporter can be) have been injured or killed.
Gun culture in the US is just ****ing crazy, but the remedy is almost impossible to implement. I honestly don't know where the country can go from here. It's like so many still think they're in the wild west - where anything can be solved with violence.
I also agree that ironically this can work in his favour. He can make himself a martyr.

Was only talking to someone on Friday saying I wouldn't be surprised if there is an assassination attempt on Trump soon. Didn't think it would be that soon though

They haven't kicked off again have they with their " Let's invade a nearby country and hope no one notices", they will probably claim to have been invited in by the Welsh Tourist Board, just like the Czechs allegedly invited them into the Sudetenland in 1939!

Not to get to Wales or the Sudetenland. They probably had a diversionary ploy by putting their beach towels on some sunbeds in Greece, before swooping on Wales.
