The recruitment is on par with stick the tail on the donkey. Roll on the end of the transfer window when we can see chavs fooling about outside the KFC while we pay over inflated prices for mediocre players.

Where our issues lie in recruitment sit with the owners impatience that instilled into the “brain team”. He wants to go up ASAP so would rather sign a high quality expensive loan then a development permanent signing.

But they did that by spending more than we could afford.

For me last season was down to having a good gaffer and the L1 core of the squad being a lot better than people realise.

Throw in a few decent youngsters and you've got the makings of a really good squad. I also think it's pretty obvious that LR had a massive part to play in signing the youngsters and without him, we're going to really struggle. We were a really safe bet for a young kid's career, we're not any more.

Aside from the back line who stood out that was playing for us in league 1? Slater was nowhere near as influential.

We had excellent attacking talents signed by the current recruitment team. Something like 90% of our goals from last season are no longer at the club yet we still have the league 1 core. Rosenior did a good job nothing can take anything away from that but he was given what he wanted in both windows so let’s not act like it was all down to him.

Near true. Imo Omur was in our three best players, maybe even the best, and is still with us. Thankfully. For now?

How are we not? They’re pretty much guaranteed to start for us if they’re any good?

I'll judge at the end of the window. But from the point we're at there's a lot of work to do.

I suspect we're at a low point in terms of recruitment though. Well I hope so anyway.
Well they built a team that finished 7th last season so they’re doing something right?

Where the issue lies is long term planning, not the ability to find a good player that’s a good fit for systems we are playing.
They did but rather than try to build on that they decided to scrap it and start again from scratch

No they didn’t scrap it they just signed too many players on the short term. Short term wise they built a good squad capable of challenging

I don't think they had much choice in some respects. The loans were never staying without promotion. Greaves and Philogene also.

I'm a bit surprised they cleared the decks almost completely though.

That’s true, perhaps we shouldn’t only target loanees that will stay on the guarantee of promotion though?

Simons worked out for us, we signed him permanently, after performing for a few games in the side. Could be in for a big season.

Rak Sak-yi is another one with potential of being the same, good talent but not sure he’ll rip it up enough for Palace to not sanction a permanent deal.

We absolutely have choices as to how far ahead we are planning when signing a player

Are we forgetting the keeper that he very clearly didn't want? And if Acun did that once, he almost certainly did it more than once.

Because Tim doesn't have a reputation in this country for developing young players, he's an unknown quantity and players will aways take the safe bet, as we've just seen with Moore. So any youngsters we do get on loan will likely be ones that have never played at this level before or ones that have never played senior football before.

God forbid they sign a Croatian youth international who’s performed in the Eredivise to replace a keeper who probably cost us double figures in points…

He does have a reputation globally though.

Or ones who have had mixed success so far at this level, like Morton, Delap, Jaden etc last season.

Why always so quick to assume something that hasn't happened yet?

You did this with the option/obligation bollocks a few weeks ago and got egg on your face. Why not wait and see before making pronouncements that aren't there to be made?

Thought you'd have the intelligence to have learnt by now?

As a prospect maybe. Yet to prove his potential though, and lacks experience.

Playing week in week out in the Dutch premier league and standing out was grounds for signing him. I imagine we find out rather soon how good he is… he could become our next sellable asset

But that's not the point, if a manager doesn't want a player, why sign him? It's not like Acun's track record is good.

He does have a reputation in Germany and I think he'll develop one here, but he won't in time for this window. It's like nobody at the club thinks when they hire a foreign manager that has no UK reputation and then gives him a massive rebuild and expects it to be a success. I feel really sorry for Tim, comes across as a really charismatic guy and I think he can do well under reasonable conditions.
