If we were in a position not to accept then don't you think we would? Ultimately if the player decides to go to the premier league and we hold him back then that comes with its own set of issues, in the long and short term. Besides, if we need a full squad rebuild with no headroom to play with then we need to sell him to reinvest.
Has it been confirmed the sell on % applies if villa exercise their right to buy, deals like this I've seen before, the sell on % only occurs if it's to another club, not the agreed "buy back" price
I think we'll know if this was good business when we see who replaces them and how much we pay for them I think Greaves was worth £50 Million though , I might be slightly biased
How do you work that out NT... 15 million + 3 = 18. If and its an if Ipswich sell him at some point for 30 million their profit is 15 and the sell in is perhaps 20% of the profit thats only another 3 million making 21 total...
I think the quoted figure of £15m with add ons for a left footed English centre half is pretty poor. He’s nowhere near reached his potential yet. £20m plus add ons would have been much better.
I was hoping we’d get £40 million for both, but I can see why. Greaves has only learnt to defend at corners without grabbing the opposition players in the last 18 months. Philogene was a stop start player, when he was good, he was great, but he wasn’t great for long enough. Geovanni style player IMO!
Yes, though I think they could be working it out wrong, as the sell-on is based on the profit not the fee, so we're probably actually getting a bit more.
Oh I agree, it's a huge loss to us if/when he goes. But I'm also extremely pleased to see a local lad come through our system and become a prem player
Its true Which again makes me think We needed the more a bit more desperately than first thought Ipswich will sell greaves for at least three times what they paid within 2 seasons
He's mainly pissed that we put ourselves in this position by spunking so much cash last season when there was actually very little chance of us actually getting promoted. He was very critical of all the money spent in January, so it's not hindsight, he thought it was poor judgement then, which looks even poorer now.
