GERS PARK STADIUM WOES

Rangers are set to alleviate the issues of their ongoing stadium works by taking their Premiership home games around the country.

The “All routes to grass roots” initiative will see Philippe Clement and his men tour public parks and patches of grass all over Scotland in a bid to connect with the ordinary fan, whilst Ibrox undergoes a startling transformation.

It was initially understood that Rangers would move to rent Hampden Park from the SFA but the public park idea won over the Ibrox board, with universal approval being gained.

And in an even bolder move to connect with grass roots supporters, four lucky fans will be asked to lay down their jackets as goalposts in an attempt to recreate “a’body on” matches of the distant past. The jackets will then be autographed by Gers stars like Jack Butland, Cyriel Dessers and Jack Lawrence and sold back to the highest bidder on the day.

Adding another lair of authenticity to proceedings, It is also understood games will end not on the blast of the referees whistle, but when he has to go home for his tea.

And to keep things consistent, ticket prices will be exactly the same as they are to gain entry to Ibrox – a move which will no doubt delight loyal followers of the club.

Travel instructions will be issued for upcoming matches in due course, but an insider told us that this would include “jump over iron fence” and “through hole at back of toilet block”.

It is reassuring in such uncertain times that one of our biggest clubs wants to take the game back to the very people that matter – the fans.
