Sorry, I only just noticed this. Why is it even worthy of comment what colour an England player is when he scores? When Harry Kane scores a goal, do commentators or pundits celebrate a white player scoring? I don't know the details of these Abbott / Ferdinand comments, but if they were made only to highlight the ethnic background of the players who scored then it should be called out. As mentioned, any pundit (especially a white one) who might draw attention to Harry Kane's race when he scores would be shot down in flames. Was there some other context to these comments? Such as the totally uncalled for racial element to the online abuse that black players face when they fail on the pitch? I'm not saying that black players should receive more praise when they do well (just as they should not receive more stick when they fail) I'm just wondering what the circumstances were around the comments you mentioned.
Both Abbot & Ferdinand made them on Twitter Lardi. The context to both “contributions” is white people happy to cheer black people when it suits. Both morons.
"Where a re are the racists now? Probably still celebrating!"- Rio Ferdinand. Seems harmless. I can't find Diane Abbott's comments, would be interested to see them verbatim.
I have watched very little of the Euros, confining myself to watching a few of the England and Jock games. Kick off times over here are either 10.00, 13.00 or 16.00 and confined to watching in bars here. Anyway, watching yesterday's game I think Spain will roll over either England or the cloggies. The stuff England have played has been dire.
Karen Carney epitomises what’s wrong with the woke agenda & our media. I cannot stand it. The vast majority of men do not want to listen to women talking about football !! She’s a boring Btummie drone, with zero eloquence and insight - in the role solely due to her gender. Her opening insight tonight is that it’s the win that’s the most important thing.
Spain have definitely been the stand out team of a very under achieving tournament- but you never know , just maybe, we can turn it on when required
Just got a feeling that it's one of those years when the best team doesn't win. In this case Spain. England are building momentum, and if Luke Shaw replaces Trippier they become a more balanced team, and will be more able to strut their stuff.
I detest it. I respect their right to play it and talk about it but please …stop blurring the lines with the real stuff.
VAR just makes stuff up. Worse than just letting individual referees control games - which was good enough for about 150 years.
Getting better with every game. The first half tonight was excellent. Foden arrived on the stage at last. Having quality subs is having an impact. its …..coming …….
