You'd think it wouldn't be difficult for sure, and a cut off date for when you can apply to be a candidate, to prevent last minute fake ids.

To be fair, I expect the National jumped on it without reading the whole story.

Doris from Chesterfield has to remember her bus pass to vote but a bloke apparently from Gibraltar can run in Bristol and we’ll take their word for it he’s sound.

Fair point, the whole system is just nuts.

I also wonder how many postal votes never made it....lots of areas had problems.I know it makes no difference to the result but it's not the point.

We can just hope that this potential scandal signals the end of Farage and Reform

The real shame of course would be if it’s true that none of them won and we had five years of Lee Anderson wearing a fake moustache pretending to be the MP for Llanelli.

The Tory in Hendon who lost by 15 votes might beg to differ.

    **** him.

It’s a fair point though. There were far more very close results than last time.

They have your signature on file, so you have to sign and give your date of birth as part of sending it off, plus it's sent to a postal address, which of sorts is verification in itself. It could all still be forged I suppose, but a lot of effort to gain one vote.

Not as much as creating non existent candidates for a Political Party that only had Farage and several members

There’s no ID needed. Nothing to stop a husband voting on his wife’s behalf which is an accusation aimed at Muslim voters often but I’m sure it’s always happened. Or adult children using their elderly parents’ votes.

Tbph I'm thinking of going back to voting locally than via post, after the latest fiasco's. Although time next GE comes round I'll be retired and not really give a toss.
