http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11726/7341264/Robins-reveal-heavy-losses Loaded, but have to cut wages and players may be sold
Say bye bye to Maynard in January then please log in to view this image Plus a few others by the looks of it. Our losses will be alot more than that i feel, we just won't need to sell players to get the money back.
Im pretty sure Calamitys contract cant end soon enough!!! I think the majority of CCC clubs will make losses, with us being towards the top of the list. We are very fortunate that TOP can bank roll any losses but teams like BC who dont have the same financial backing may start the struggle. Having to release players and openly admit to needing players on lower wages is going to make things tough for BC. I cant see them challenging for a good few years yet
Staff costs four million more than turnover, recipe for disaster,so why this? http://www.leeds.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=264097
Don't mean to butt in and all that but this is similar to the last two seasons, actually slightly better than last year believe it or not. We have a large number of out of contract players on stupid money at the season's end so we're going to be cutting wages then. It's not like we turned down £6m or whatever you offered for Maynard then went and spent £10m.. As our manager said in an interview on saturday it'll still have to be a very very good offer to get Maynard so the situation hasn't changed from the summer in that regard. You can have Nicky Hunt if you want. He's only on a rumoured 14k a week and has played about 4 times for us in two years.. Sums up why we lost so much money! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15945351.stm If you had any interest in the Chairman's interview at all. Anyways best of luck for the rest of the season and hopefully we'll be up there with you soon!
don't start ....or we shall..... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?34059-Saints-fans-beaten-up-in-Bristol
I never really fancied Maynard at the prices we were reading about and nothing has happened to change that view. Beckford seems to be fitting in better now and im sure he will soon hit a rich vein of form
I think the interesting point i located was in Steve's interview to Points West where he says 'it is an opportunity for us to replace some of those players with some on lower salaries'. That doesnt strike me as a comment from a Chairman who has bags of money. I think alot of players in the CCC are now on crazy money- but its simply the reality of the situation. Clubs will have to find the financial backing if they want to compete come the future i suspect. I notice the NM has started to score a few goals - you def need players of his calibre to hit form. I cant see him moving this January because i cant see many clubs making a play for him
To be fair, our owner has always said he wants the club to be self sufficient and has invested in a (judicial review permitting) new stadium to help that. I do agree with your other points completely though, some of our players are genuinely useless but being paid exceptionally well. I would be very happy to see us having a policy of going for younger players from the leagues below like we did with Adomah and Bolaise that have lots of potential than us bringing in has-beens that can no longer cut it in the prem and are dropping down a league. Can see youth teams becoming very important for clubs in the next few years which is how it should be IMO. Tighter regulations needed though to stop bigger clubs cherrypicking the best from lower league youth sides.
There might be some bargains at Pompey soon, it looks like their about to go into admin once again and another points deduction is on the cards.
Poor Pompey - never nice! But it was only the parent financier that has gone into admin so its not as bleak as their last spell. I would have a word with Pompeys legal representatives for failing to carry out proper due dilligence on Antinov. You have to check where the investment is coming from - £250M missapropriated can be traced with a paper trial. Am sure they will secure another financier - so shouldnt be the end for Pompey
Feel sorry for Pompey. Its a good club with great fans who get ****ed over by ****ty owners constantly. Its times like this when I look at our's and say 'thank god!'
Our losses will be bigger then the figure that comes out as basically now the owners are sponsoring themselves with the kit and the stadium. But all the commercial sponsor will bring in a lot of money
How do Portsmouth keep finding these dodgy owners? They should just take the club on dragons den. Probaly wont get investment anyway
Maynard was Sven's wet dream - no way is he worth £6M. Might be worth a punt at £2M but tbh I hope that Pearson has better targets in mind (like Luke Varney).
