They can have Longstaff for a mere £50m if they want. The league will be better without that cheating little rat face Fernandes in it.
7 years, really? That's nuts. I thought they had already put a cap on these long contracts, at least for PSR/amortisation purposes?
Rumours that Liverpool are about to make a fresh bid for Gordon of around £70m. NUFC holding out for £80m + £20m in future, performance related fees. Then they plan to sign Chiesa for £22m as the replacement for LW, leaving the remainder for a quality RW. Always love all the summer transfer rumours...
Hopefully we knock Liverpool back again. Gordon is quality. If needs must, then that kind of money will super boost our transfer kitty, but I'd much rather we keep Gordon if we can.
He has had a fantastic season, so it would be sad to see him go anywhere else. He's also been highly reliable fitness-wise. Those two points added together should make him worth his weight in gold to us.
Nobody wants to buy a useless headless chicken plodder. Maybe you need to big him up more so other clubs think he's worth buying.
Yeah but who do replace him with? I doubt if you get someone that good for £40m again, Cheisa didn't look up to much for Italy and he maybe cheap but would think his wage demands would be high. Now latest rumour City interested along with Chelsea, manure and scousers, if they all think he's that good then it's £100m minimum!
That's the point though, £100m creates a transfer kitty of £400m+ amortised if you are looking at 4-5 year contracts. That's enough to build a team to regularly compete for top 4 with the squad we already have. Just imagine 5x £80m valued players added to our current squad. I'd love to keep Gordon, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if we did sell him for that price. It would rapidly accelerate our growth.
Yeah maybe but then you are making your competition better with no guarantee we'll replace like for like and weakening ourselves, it's a no from me.
