Mate, the football media are completely clueless these days. They arent writing about the game anymore, because they dont understand it. The technicalities of the game has moved on, they havent been able to understand it so peddle agendas that they hope sell papers. They used to build folk up to such heights so they could take pleasure, and make money, by knocking them down. Now it is a constant tirade of negativity using explanations that are plain wrong. My only advice is dont read them too much, you will know more about football than they do.

Good post. I never take notice of what they say, but you can't help hear the spew on talkSPORT, Jim White taking the p**s, all of the English "pundits" constantly moaning on there. Complaining when we win by ripping the performance to bits. Never happy. But, for me,Southgate hasn't shown his hand too early, why go all guns blazing when you don't need to. Anyone that genuinely thought GS was going to persist with the same tactics and line up as the tournament went on clearly knows very little about football, you play chess, use what you need to get done what needs done. I've heard from all walks that "he's lucky" because we've scored late on, goals count straight after the first whistle up until the final whistle. Now it could all end on Wednesday, and I'll stand by what I've said about how piss poor the support has been from the media, and they have turned on Southgate this time. One other thing that an individual needs to drop imo, and it's down to the media again, is the whole ear cupping s**te from Jude, he doesn't need to do that, but feels he needs to because of the "noise".

Manchester City claim Premier League analysis of commercial income is ‘unfair’
    • Company scrutinising City deals ‘works for rival clubs’
    • Relates to legal fight on associated party transactions
    www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/jul/08/manchester-city-claim-premier-league-analysis-commercial-income-unfair

Manchester City are claiming the Premier League has treated them unfairly in assessing their commercial income by relying on the analysis of a data company that also works for their rivals. The Guardian has learned the league’s scrutiny of the fair market value of City’s deals was undertaken by Nielsen Sports, a global data and media valuation firm that has contracts with several top-flight clubs.

City are understood to have raised the Premier League’s use of Nielsen in their legal battle over associated party transactions (APT), in which clubs strike sponsorship or revenue deals with businesses linked to their owners, which was heard in private last month. A decision on the landmark case is expected soon, although it is unclear when it will be made public.

The club and the Premier League are also preparing to lock horns in an era-defining legal hearing in November, with the winners of six of the past seven league titles accused of 115 breaches of financial fair play rules. Both parties declined to comment on either case when contacted. City have denied wrongdoing....

    Continues:

.... The new legal claim from City was filed in February, with the Premier League informing its clubs of the matter in March. In another element forming part of the legal challenge, City make an explosive claim about the Premier League’s well-established voting rules. The requirement that 14 of 20 clubs must vote in favour of any proposal for it to be adopted has long been hailed as one of the competition’s strengths, but in their legal documents City claim the system preserves “the tyranny of the majority”. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Danny Simpson announced his retirement last night

Thought he was bang average personally but he had a canny career. Played in most league games when Leicester won the PL…

Just booked for Portsmouth away ...

... £43 return from Edinburgh to Stansted then £20 return on the Fratton train.

Almost the same cost as going to the SOL <laugh>

And what a time as well, some great results and atmosphere inside Roker Park.

West Ham were a very good side at that time.
