I slept through most of the France v Portugal match. It was only because my missus woke me that I watched the penalties.
Got a table booked in Salisbury to watch the England game with in-laws, but the train has been stuck at Woking for the last 45 minutes because of a tree on the line at Basingstoke. No one knows when it will start again. Could do with a beer.
It was a marginally better performance last night. We are growing into the tournament, a bit like we did under Sir Bobby at Italia 90. Southgate may well have stumbled on a better formation due to the suspension of Guehi . I thought Konsa was our MOM, and 3-5-2 looked better. Harry Kane’s overall form & slowness is still a concern. There’s a superb video on Twitter of the cricket match last night at Edgbaston between India and Pakistan. The game came to a halt during the penalties, as thousands of British Asians went to the bars to watch the penalties, and cheer England’s success. A timely reminder that the overwhelming, mainstream majority of British Asians are good people who love the Old Country.
Very, very disappointing to see both Diane Abbott & Rio Ferdinand playing the Race Card today on England’s win (black players scoring the goals, white fans cheering them). Although given the two individuals concerned, and their incredible lack of intelligence, it’s no great surprise. Just sad really.
