I know, but it's Acun. Him saying we're signing a striker next week could actually mean we'll be placing an offer next week, or just about anything else.
Isn't that what happened with Philogen? Acun told us we were signing one of the most exciting young English talents next week and several weeks later (and lots of wrong guesses) we got Philogen.
Why can’t we find a 16 year old who can set up a goal with a pass like that? Mind you would we have finished it as well?
This move does seem to make so much sense. If we were to negotiate Rak-Sakyi as part of the deal, what fee would we be happy with? I'm thinking about 14m and then probably some buyback in the deal for them similar to the Philogene deal with Villa.
Seen lots of previous posts on this thread suggesting we sign any number of players posters think we should sign who we have expressed no interest in and aren’t signing.. Though I intended to put that post on the Spain v Germany thread.
Suspect this one will move at pace now. Felt like Ipswich were being used by us to start the bidding war, but this is a great move for Jaden.
Has Acun shut the door on the rumour mills now? Seems to be a lot less of them flying about now a days. I mean for incomings obviously.
Either Rak-Sakyi is ****e, or he's injury prone. He's appeared in 10 games in total in the past two seasons, outside of reserve team games. No goals. No assists.
The longer we don't sign him the better he becomes. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
He had a very bright loan spell at Charlton in 22-23 and they couldn't decide if they wanted to send him out on loan. They eventually chose us around Deadline Day but then pulled the deal as their deal fell through for a winger. He's in that really awkward place of being too good to go out on loan for them but not good enough to play and then he got injured and couldn't go out in Jan either. So his momentum has completely gone, and he's played next to no football in 12 months. He'd be a decent signing but it just doesn't make sense to loan him as he'll probably take a bit of time to get up to speed, and he's a player that we could really develop for Palace, but we don't get much out of it in a transition year. He's 22 in October so this move is really make or break for him. If we can do a deal to get him permanently on the cheap, maybe £2/3m, putting a low buy back in of £7-8m would make sense for everyone.
There are a lot of bed wetters on X going into melt down about no news on signings. Probably the same ones a while back saying we should keep news under wraps until they are concrete rather than speculation. I prefer us being under the radar than heaps of rumours flying about.
