Compare this hand over of power from Rishi to Keir and then what happened in the US with Trump to Biden.

    Night and day.

It's what gives me hope that the UK won't drift off down the right wing xenophobe route like the US under Trump. Because at the end of the day, even though we are a nation with different views, we are ultimately a civilised nation with a strong sense of fair play. Something I think Starmer will actively seek to foster and encourage.

I think Rishis resignation speech was also classy, he was quick to wish Keir luck and congratulations.

Yeah it was very magnanimous. And he spoke well about Starmer's personal character. It was also very poignant in terms of ensuring the stability of the transfer of power.

When you look at all the votes in most of the constituencies the votes for Reform are the ones that destroyed the Tories NOT Labour votes, there were a few where the Labour vote was down but Reform votes kept Labour in power

Starmer just for the bantz should offer Farage the Deputy Prime Minister position to show his gratitude for Farages efforts in the Election

Normally I would be happy with the Lib Dem results but I just cant take Ed Davey seriously

    Edit

My in-laws in Clacton are furious, disappointed and ashamed that Farage won there

Joking aside, I don't mind being a Green, but just not the UK's political version of it and groups like extinction rebellion don't help their cause, especially so because I remember Caroline Lucas defending them.

Is it just me or have Reform sort of gone under the radar since all the actual results came out?

Like everyone was in awe at them getting over 10 seats, now they have 4 with the Greens, no one gives a **** again.

I think Starmer will be a quiet pragmatist, who'll work to try and bring tangible benefits to working people. I don't think any of it will be particularly radical and I don't think there will be sweeping changes, but if he can show people that he's genuinely got their best interests at heart, then it might quell the extreme views that attract people to Farage and co

This is what I was alluding to earlier. They are riding on the back of giving the Tories a bloody nose, but will their appeal be able to be sustained ? They don't actually really offer anything tangible, and the noise about immigrants is headline grabbing, but they don't have any workable solutions to the issue.

He'll be fine, he don't seem the sort to clown about, actually got a sensible politician for a change, I'm quite happy with boring.

Can't wait to see the House of Commons, with the Tory side blitzed <laugh>

When I got up and put the tv on this morning, the Reform number of seats had disappeared from the screens, and yet the SNP's 9 was still there, I worked out then the Exit poll was wrong, well I'd worked out last night it couldn't be right.
