According to iNews, we'd agree terms with Mitchell a while back, but managed to keep this from the media until the official announcement. Mitchell meanwhile has apparently been working quietly away on our transfer targets since agreeing terms and the club are hoping this will give them an edge when it comes to signing their desired targets quickly.
Sorry posted something like this on the transfer window thread! Howe wanting him is interesting - I genuinely think a manager has too much to do to concentrate on the data around transfers. Ashworth was always going to focus on the England U21 setups, whereas Mitchelll has reach across Europe as well as locally.
Looks like you are ITK https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2024/07/...r-al-rumayyan-steps-in-before-man-utd-switch/ Dan Ashworth fee goes public as Yasir Al-Rumayyan steps in before Man Utd switch However, as revealed by the i’s Matt Hughes, it’s thought a £10m package has now been agreed, with PIF governor and Newcastle Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan ‘adamant’ that Ashworth would only leave on our terms.
Just read an article claiming that Howe wasn't consulted on the addition of Mitchell and that he's feeling a bit peeved that he wasn't consulted first as he doesn't know Mitchell. It goes on to suggest that Howe is an empire builder who prefers appointing those he trusts and has pre existing relationships with, wherever possible.
