Assuming the player joins Newcastle what are your thoughts? Will he be useful and will he do well here? I personally believe he's a player Newcastle desperately need because he offers something Howe doesn't have at his disposal. Newcastle dont have a player to stick the ball to and late in games and when required for tactical reasons it's something the side needs. He's also good in the air so will get a few here I think.
Until he signs I am not voting. For what it’s worth if it’s say 15-20m then it would be an ok signing.
IF he signs, I'll hope he will do well, however while holding the ball up is important, number one priority for a striker in my eyes is to put the ball in the net. His conversion rate was poo last season and he was unavailable for large amounts of the previous 2. I just don't think we'll get the goal return we need. If he's not here to score goals and just relieve pressure, why not just lump BDB up there?
Please no, not another sicknote. If we sign DCL then it looks to me to be a clear sign that the project is limping along without a long term focus.
Voted yes - that's if he actually signs! Added to that we'd need to sell Wilson for more than we sign DCL for to make it a worthwhile signing. Let's face it he wouldn't be anything more than back up for Isak and used to see out games with his physical side of the game and cup's effectively. Think he would do okay coming on for 10-15 min at the end of games or against teams where we need a target man up top to hit. If he's happy to come and play a squad role I think he'd be a decent signing but as mentioned only if we made a profit on the Wilson/DCL switch otherwise I'd just keep Wilson and see it as a wasted signing tbh.
I really can't see him signing for us. We can't match his current wages, unless he is joint 2nd in our salary scale alongside Isak. He's decent, but he's really not worth anywhere that sort of money. Especially with his injury record. Plus Everton keep asking silly money for every player transfer. IF it was under say £25m and IF he took a huge wage cut, then I'd say yes. Realistically, those 2 things won't both happen, so to me it's a non starter.
Did you actually vote in this poll or commit to whether you think he'll sign? You're developing a bit of a habit of putting up polls to try and get people to commit to things and not commiting to it yourself. Just something I've noticed, it's almost like you're trying to lay traps for people to use as wumming material further down the road buddy FWIW I'm so-so on DCL. I don't think we'll sign him but if we do I'm not bemused by it, there's a good player in there though I suspect we may never see it fully realised due to injuries.
