Interviewed on BBC radio, daft lad has just said that "everytime there's 3 passes against us there's and edginess to the fans directed at him but that's effecting the players". What a pile of ****e. Has there ever been a manager with so many excuses to his waffle. Is it any wonder that fans are anxious and nervous? We are 2 points from a relegation place, playing ****e, with only 1 who at home this season and 3 in this calendar year. It's always someone else's fault with this bloke. No mention that its his crap tactics, formations and player selection that has knackered us up this year. If Bruce hadn't made a bollock of the whole of this year, we wouldn't be so bloody nervous in the first place. If we didn't have relegation form for 10 months and didn't get beaten at home against a pile of utter garbage like Wigan, maybe our mood would be better. Bloody idiot.
It amazes me that while the BiB's can overlook results due to decent performances, how they can overlook being constantly belittled and blamed by Bruce is beyond me. No other fans in the country would take the **** that some mackems do
I am moving towards agreeing that a change is needed however this is a point I have agreed with fora few years at the Stadium of Light. Having seen us play home and away we are some of the worst for getting overly edgy throughout the game. Maybe its because we have seen 15 point and 18 point seasons and panic that this could happen again, but sometimes I just wish people would relax a bit and get behind them
I've already advised you that this attitude you lot have transends on to the players. I saw the same thing happening at NUFC the year we were relegated. The fact remains that you have always been a bottom half of the table club, however since finishing 10th your fans have developed a top half attitude. Bruce has done well for you or no worse than average this season. It's really due to NUFC challenging for europe AGAIN that has been the catalyst for your behaviour towards him.
No mate. I (along with virtually every Sunderland fan) am convinced Newcastle won't be anywhere near Europe come May. It can't be that.
Well I guess we'll find out, however don't think your serious if you think I'm going to believe it's not bothering you at all?????
Yeah for the mags..... Enjoy your season, it's going well so far, so fair play... But i wouldn't worry about us too much, we'll bounce back. Let's just remember who has has on top the last few seasons eh.
TBH mate it's not. Years ago maybe it would of. Now though I'd like nothing better than to see both clubs in the top six. You are doing very well, we are ****. Bruce has to go not because of your position. Not because he supported Newcastle as a kid but because he's just not cutting it at Sunderland.
I can honestly say I think you will do ok if you just get behind the team and the manager. There is no point in all the abuse and negativity I can tell you.
To be fair Mr Tiote, when you finish 10th, then spend the summer buying loads of new players, you expect to match the previous season at least, if not better it. They have spent big to be fair, the only thing that keeps the books looking good is that 2 players went for massively inflated prices (not having a go there.) The bedding in excuse would be valid if Bruce hadn't spent every transfer window at the club overhauling the squad, it clearly shows he doesn't know what he's doing in the transfer maerket.
I fear it's gone past that point now. Completely agree about the abuse he's getting. Totally out of order.
To be honest (and I mean this in away to defend the mackems), most Sunderland supporters have accepted that, save for a colossal error on our part, we've probably won the finishing-place war this season. Not only would Sunderland have to keep up with us in the number of wins/draws we're getting, but they would have to better us enough to close a 15 point gap, which equates to 5 wins more than us (or a combo of wins and draws). However, once some Sunderland supporters (and even Bruce) accepts that, they can focus entirely on themselves and sort the situation out. It's quite refreshing when you come to terms with something and the frustration melts away. There will be some Sunderland supporters who still think it's wide open, and they'll just keep frustrating themselves more and more, but let them get on with it.
Yeah and don't forget who is reponsibile for that top ten finish last year. Blaming Bruce is shortsighted when you look at how he's had to sell his best players to enable him to pad out the average almost Championship calibre squad he inherrited from Roy of the Rovers. He's also struggled with injuries this season to Campbell, Wickham, Gordon, Turner, Bramble all players who could have made a real difference if fully fit and available. The team is lacking consistancy and it's no wonder when he gets no luck with injuries. It seems like when he gets a player back he'll lose two more. Personally I don't agree with what he has stated in those comments above about the home fans being quick to get on the players backs if a couple of passes go astray or the opposing team strings a couple of passes together, but the concerning fact is that the away form is better than the home form and there has to be a reason why the team feel more comfortable away from home?
The problem, in my opinion, is that Sunderland were in a bit of a false position due to the sheer number of loanees, which is again an error on Bruce's part. They reached 10th, but the loanees then left, which meant that Bruce had to spend a chunk of his cash not actually buying BETTER players, just buying players which would replace the loanees and other players who had left - such as Gyan, Bent and Ferdinand. He dug himself a hole, basically. I cannot think of any other club which had so many loan players. I'm sure at some point about a third of the XI were players of different clubs. There comes a time when those gaps have to be filled with actual Sunderland players of the same quality or better, and that seems to have happened this season. There was a lot of gaps to fill, and that takes into account that Bruce's spending isn't particularly great, so it was always going to be difficult.
The negativity comes from somewhere though, doesn't it? I was at the Amsterdam tournament immediately after Bruce was appointed and it was all "Steve Bruce's red & white army", smiles all round and optimism galore. It's all negative now because we've been ****e since January and Bruce has been incapable of turning that round. What would Newcastle fans' (or any fans') attitude be if you'd won three home games in a calendar year, sold all your strikers, and were heading for the bottom three? I agree totally with Cest, Bruce has had a million chances, his excuses are bollocks, and he now has to go.
Bruce misses the point that we've been crap all year. We were 6th at the end of 2010, which is pretty much where the mags are now, but does he take any responsibility for the decline? Does he buggery. I am way past caring about the mags right now. They can take care of themselves, it's whether we can that's worrying me.
I can agree with almost all of that. Bruce has IMO been unlucky with injuries, players running away etc. That said we have been **** at home for a year now. A whole year. What ever reason for our failures the buck has to stop with the manager. He's had long enough. He simply has to go.
