Not sure I ever said FFP /PSR wasn't an issue for us. I've always said it was purely there to slow us down - and it has. I've always said be patient, it's a long term project but we will get there eventually. But feel free to share screenshots if you think I've said otherwise.
I would like Newcastle to keep the few top players we have just like all of us, but eventually one will be sold .. we can say this, that or whatever, but the reality means we will sell at the right price and the right time They will be replaced...plenty more fish in the sea.
Indeed, every club buys and sells, including what their fans would see as their favourite / top players. I doubt there is a club that hasn't sold a fan favourite. It's just part of the game. It will happen to us at some point, but hopefully to help generate funds to buy more /better.
It’s not even guaranteed that the PSR deficit was £70m+. I mean, in any universe you’d snap the hand off if they offered £35m for Anderson. Hes really average and doesn’t fit our system at all. Minteh, I’ll say again his manager last season had no interest in spite of the fact Salah is likely to leave. Ashworth to Man U was also always happening. The club will say nowt - it serves a purpose for the world to believe we’re a bit skint to stop adding Saudi taxes. Either way it’s all irrelevant. We haven’t sold a star, we have appointed a top class Sporting Director. Now we have 6 weeks to assemble a team with far better incomings than Kelly, Vlach and Ruddy.
I saw someone say that because of Alfie Harrison's performances and potential, the club weren't too fussed about losing Elliott. Might be true, might be rubbish, but £35m was an excellent offer.
A huge factor is if they want to leave, and Isak, Bruno, Gordon, Joelinton, Barnes, Botman etc all seem happy here. We ain't just a feeding pool for the big clubs anymore, it's a whole different dynamic from the days of selling Cabaye, Carroll, Winjaldum etc
We must sell them and there is no money. We were £70 million in the hole and Manchester United defeated us with Ashworth. We folded and we must accept that we're a small club.
So, we won't be forced to sell to a bigger, better club at a time of distress as we're so badly run that we'll get double the points deduction of Everton due to being miles off the PSR calc? Glad I can breathe easy.
I think we'll have enough to finally get Tranquillo Barnetta out of the Jesmond Dene hotel, and maybe finally get Brett Emerton over the line.
Interested to know who argued that psr wasn’t an issue. £50M amortised is £250M. I’d be happy with that lol
Jesus all I do is come on here to get away from life's trials and tribulations and it's like everyone just comes on here looking for an argument.
