Both countries - I pay tax on UK earnings/assets/investments in the UK, then declare it on my Norwegian tax return and then just have to pay tax on Norwegian earnings/assets/investments because there´s tax cooperation deal between the two.

The centre left party in charge implemented a 1% asset tax on HNW/UHNW individuals two years ago and a lot have relocated to Switzerland and North Italy, so they shot themselves in the foot, in the way you mentioned.

Was interested reading about the “leaving tax” on assets over £43,700 or so.
The article was looking at wealth taxes and how they are not an effective way of raising money resulting in very few countries having them. Though a lot in the Labour Party think we should have one.

It'll be interesting to look back to see how accurate these polls are in a couple of days.

Labour will close tax loopholes which sounds great to me as long it's not the one I'm using.

The net outflows in the FT show that 40% of millionaires "leaving" the UK are going to UAE - are they living there full time? or are they moving assets around the globe depending on the best/lowest tax regime.

The UK ranks 4th-8th (depending on which figures you believe) for the number of millionaires in the world and if you drive in the many towns and cities of the UK, you clearly see that having a high number of these HNW ppl has very little impact financially on a lot of the population. Trickle down economics from the global elite was discredited a long time ago...

Good advice. And that is pretty much exactly why this life time Tory voter will be voting Reform this election.

It's not about believing everything each party promises will happen, but deciding which party's 'direction of travel' over time is closest to the direction I want to see things going.

I want to see a return to common sense. That would represent massive change, not the tinkering change both of the main parties talk about and would see happen.

I want, and I honestly can't see why anybody would not want a government that has the following as it's 'direction of travel'.
    - reduced and 'smart' immigration to end our population explosion and to start to ease pressure on housing, services, to protect our British culture & values.
    - secure detention of migrants arriving by illegal routes and for them to know they will not stay if they are arriving from a safe country. I want a safer, fairer country.
    - (a move toward) zero tolerance policy, massively increased 'stop and search, prison for carrying knives & violent crimes, life for drug dealing. As above, I want a safer country.
    - an end to woke madness, PC ideology, Sharia law.
    - HMRC properly staffed to collect billions owing
    - an end to the current net zero madness, with a sensible plan / actions instead to transition
    - reformed planning system , especially brownfield sites
    - reform social housing law, so that locals and those who have paid into the system are prioritised, with foreign nationals at the back of the queue
    - a simplified reformed tax system
    - support the concept of marriage through the tax system and in other ways
    - meaningful change to NHS to improve efficiency and unnecessary costs
    - find ways to ensure that nurses & doctors trained by the UK stay for a long period in the UK, through incentives
    - a ban on transgender ideology in schools
    - mandate single sex facilities
    - reform to benefits and training, to get many back to work
    - scrap retained EU laws, leave the EHCR, and replace where needed with fit for purpose UK laws
    - reform the House of Lords and Civil Service.
    - bring in Proportional Representation so that voter's voices really are heard / are meaningful

Things like the above are surely just common sense for our country. At least to move clearly in those directions.

Don’t think there has ever been such a split over the votes. The more parties getting a reasonable number of votes the closer we get to the PR System. This could also be the end of the Tory party as we know it.

    I don't disagree.
But just to say the lie the Tories have been saying about how they are cutting taxes is an even bigger wopper!! The tax burden has not been cut under Sunak, it has continued to increase due to the impact of the thresholds being frozen, the financial impact of which far outweights the cuts in NI.
Why can't they just tell the truth.

The thing about 'common sense' is it is rarely either, common = popularist headline to get a vote and then fail to deliver or **** off...
    Sense = Opinion (FACT)

Add to that the ones who were already here who've done the same and it paints a pretty accurate picture of why this Country is in such a mess!!!

I'm no defeatist, but I don't think it matters who gets in(Labour will by some considerable margin),the Country is totally and utterly beyond repair.

I don't think Starmer will go back on his word 'not to increase tax on workers' but anyone who has built a nest egg for that 'rainy day' could be in for a bumpy ride...

    Do you really think so?

I think Starmer will be hopeless and they’ll probably be back at the next election.
