Mark Cavendish has a lead out man from Denmark, who has just been sent home. He tested positive, not for anything illegal, but Covid 19. There are reports that it is rife, with many teams now wearing masks if not racing.
I guessed it was back with a vengeance a while ago - the number of Yanks on Twitter shouting at everyone that masks don't work, Covid is just a cold, the vaccine kills, it's a NWO plot to reduce the population etc have reached plague proportions - a pandemic of deniers.

When I first started to understand the Tour de France in the early 2000's, the first week would be nearly all flat stages. This suited the sprinters, and the star man amongst them was the big Italian Mario Cipollini. As soon as the mountain stages arrived, he went home, saying he didn't do mountains. All credit therefore to Mark Cavendish, who with help from his team, struggled up some fearsome climbs, and has finished what is expected to be his last Tour. No chance to add to his stage win numbers today with it being a time trial, and no final sprint down the Champs - Élysées as Paris prepares for the Olympics. Now we have seen a rider who can do everything, including today's time trial. He has a style of riding very similar to Lance Armstrong. I hope he is not on the same jet fuel.
