Never mind the explanation go for retaliation. Although saying it was burnt to the ground looks from the pics to be a bit of an exaggeration
If that was deliberate, they are absolute scumbags. Apart from it being someone's livelihood, I know plenty that go to them for the bargains and quality. As a family, they do a lot for charity too.
I suppose they could claim the temporary fence, which replaced the nigh on 70 year old temporary shops that were there, is proof of work starting. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Don’t panic over this , the Stanley’s Brasserie/ Long A prime restaurant on Ferensway has now become a quality laundry , oops ‘provisions’ retail experience with the most ridiculous garish ‘cheap’ window graphics . This council will allow anything to fill a space - allowing this quality look is really enhancing the appearance - ya might as well knock station hotel down too regardless of present occupants some of who seem to have identikit blue cars parked on the front car park - hmm
Restaurants have come and gone there, and they've all failed. Occupied building, even if it's one not liked, or empty building? As for the hotel, what 'they' keep quiet is that when the contract ends the government pick up the bill for a full refurbishment. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Just what I said but are we really happy to have these type of shops spread into prime visual locations . There should certainly be control over concealing , window low quality gaudy ( subjective) graphics . There’s planning required for signage I believe? , these graphics are at that level . Anlaby Rd , Spring bank and Bev Rd are all cluttered with them . Funny really all the corner shops we grew up with couldn’t survive could they but these seem to ? If Station Hotel is owned by Britannia there won’t be a quality refurb .
There is the cost of running a corner shop legally and abiding by the rules, and then there are those who don't.
Britannia own the Clifton Hotel in Scarborough, that had a high quality refurb, inside and out including a new roof, after certain residents moved out. Britannia didn't pay for it ... The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
'They',(the government) are damned if they do/damned if they don't when it comes to commandeering these establishments? That aside,it's not their money,it's money paid into the system by honest, hard working tax-payers. We're quite happy forfeiting our access to the NHS and countless other public services to accommodate these acts of compassion though
A complex matter, almost as complex as a Cityzen post in full Unwinese mode. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
